{"id":1050,"date":"2026-02-08T06:00:16","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T06:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=1050"},"modified":"2026-02-08T06:00:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-08T06:00:16","slug":"tulsi-gabbard-denies-wrongdoing-in-national-intelligence-whistleblower-complaint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=1050","title":{"rendered":"Tulsi Gabbard denies wrongdoing in National Intelligence whistleblower complaint"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F02%2Fnewspress-collage-r8m3sxzjr-1770528969192.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall%261770510976\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft wp-block-nypost-editor-partner-article-links\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Director of National Intelligence\u00a0Tulsi Gabbard\u00a0denied any wrongdoing on Saturday as Democrats question why a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/04\/us-news\/complaint-accuses-tulsi-gabbard-of-playing-politics-with-intelligence-which-spy-agency-rejects\/\">whistleblower complaint filed against her<\/a> last May took nearly a year before it was referred to Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Virginia Democrat] Senator Mark Warner and his friends in the Propaganda Media have repeatedly lied to the American people that I or the ODNI \u2018hid\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/02\/us-news\/tulsi-gabbard-hit-with-mysterious-classified-whistleblower-complaint-as-office-insists-no-wrongdoing\/\">a whistleblower complaint in a safe<\/a> for eight months,\u201d Gabbard wrote in a lengthy X post on Saturday. \u201cThis is a blatant lie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cI am not now, nor have I ever been, in possession or control of the Whistleblower\u2019s complaint, so I obviously could not have \u2018hidden\u2019 it in a safe. Biden-era IC Inspector General Tamara Johnson was in possession of and responsible for securing the complaint for months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The highly classified <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/02\/us-news\/gabbard-details-election-security-assessment-says-trump-specifically-directed-her-to-execute-warrant-in-georgia-election-probe\/\">complaint by a US intelligence official <\/a>alleging wrongdoing on the part of Gabbard was filed eight months ago with the\u00a0intelligence community\u2019s watchdog office and was first reported on by the Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint has been locked in a safe since its filing, according to the Journal, with one US official telling the newspaper that the disclosure of its contents could cause \u201cgrave damage to national security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The whistleblower\u2019s lawyer has accused Gabbard\u2019s office of slow-walking the complaint, which her office has denied, calling it \u201cbaseless and politically motivated.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard denied wrongdoing over delayed whistleblower complaint referral to Congress members. <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Meanwhile, Democrats are also questioning why it took her office so long to hand the complaint over to Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe law is clear,\u201d\u00a0Warner, the senior Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Thursday, according to NPR, adding that the complaint was required to be sent to Congress within 21 days of its filing. \u201cI think it was an effort to try to bury this whistleblower complaint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neither the contents of the complaint nor the allegations against Gabbard have been revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Gabbard wrote on Saturday that the first time she saw the complaint was \u201cwhen I had to review it to provide guidance on how it should be securely shared with Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Warner knows very well that whistleblower complaints that contain highly classified and compartmented intelligence\u2014even if they contain baseless allegations like this one\u2014must be secured in a safe, which the Biden-era Inspector General Tamara Johnson did and her successor, Inspector General Chris Fox, continued to do,\u201d she continued. \u201cAfter IC Inspector General Fox hand-delivered the complaint to the Gang of 8, the complaint was returned to a safe where it remains, consistent with any information of such sensitivity.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"single__inline-module inline-module inline-module--newsletter aligncenter inline-module--nypostbusinessunit aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-newsletter\" data-source-unit=\"Inline Newsletter Module Morning Report\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__inner\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__title-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__unsubmitted-title-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"inline-module__title headline headline--combo-sm-md\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStart your day with all you need to know\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMorning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"inline-module__title headline headline--combo-sm-md\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>She claimed that either \u201cWarner knows these facts and is intentionally lying to the American people, or he doesn\u2019t have a clue how these things work and is therefore not qualified to be in the US Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gabbard further wrote that \u201cWhen a complaint is not found to be credible, there is no timeline under the law for the provision of security guidance. The \u201821 day\u2019 requirement that Senator Warner alleges I did not comply with, only applies when a complaint is determined by the Inspector General to be both urgent AND apparently credible. Mark Warner speaks at a press conference at the Capitol on Feb. 3, 2026. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Gabbard said she was made aware that she needed to provide security guidance on the complaint by IC Inspector General Chris Fox on Dec. 4, \u201cwhich he detailed in his letter to Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Afterward, she said she \u201ctook immediate action to provide the security guidance to the Intelligence Community Inspector General, who then shared the complaint and referenced intelligence with relevant members of Congress last week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In closing her post, Gabbard once again accused Warner of spreading \u201clies and baseless accusations over the months for political gain,\u201d which she said \u201cundermines our national security and is a disservice to the American people and the Intelligence Community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Warner\u2019s office told Fox News Digital Gabbard\u2019s post was an \u201cinaccurate attack that\u2019s entirely on brand for someone who has already and repeatedly proven she\u2019s unqualified to serve as DNI.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Gabbard said she was made aware that she needed to provide security guidance on the complaint by IC Inspector General Chris Fox on Dec. 4, \u201cwhich he detailed in his letter to Congress.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Republicans on the House and Senate intelligence committees have backed up Gabbard, with Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., writing on X on Thursday: \u201cI have reviewed this \u2018whistleblower\u2019 complaint and the inspector general handling of it.
