BANNU: Two cops were injured in two separate attacks targeting the police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Bannu district on Saturday night, police sources told Dawn<\/em> on Sunday.<\/p>\n In the first incident, armed assailants opened fire at the Khonia Khel police check post in Bannu\u2019s Wazir sub-division, prompting the police to retaliate, the sources said, adding that the attack was carried out by terrorists.<\/p>\n Cop Noor Muhammad was injured in the exchange of fire, they said.<\/p>\n Details regarding the losses inflicted on the terrorists could not be immediately confirmed.<\/p>\n A search operation was launched in the area, and security has been further tightened, according to the sources.<\/p>\n In the other incident, which occurred on Bannu\u2019s DI Khan Road, Mirakhel police came under attack while they were transporting the body of a murdered person to the hospital, sources said.<\/p>\n Armed assailants opened fire on police, as a result of which one policeman, Azmat, was injured, they added.<\/p>\n A total of six assailants were involved in the attack, riding three motorcycles, as per the police\u2019s initial report.<\/p>\n The assailants fled the site of the incident after the attack.<\/p>\n Saturday night\u2019s incidents come just around 10 days after a militant attack on a police vehicle in Bannu\u2019s Domel area was repulsed.<\/a><\/p>\n Earlier on January 8, three cops were injured when a police vehicle transporting prisoners to Hangu had come under attack in Bannu.<\/a><\/p>\n
