<\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/picture>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun has already announced plans to retire by the end of this year. But for Senator Josh Hawley, that\u2019s not soon enough.\n <\/p>\n
\n In a brutal back and forth during Tuesday\u2019s hearing on Boeing\u2019s broken safety culture, the Missouri Republican questioned Calhoun about how much money he was paid. Calhoun declined to answer directly, responding only \u201cIt\u2019s a big number.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n Hawley cited the $32.8 million in salary that was reported by Boeing for his pay in 2023, which was a 45% increase over the previous year.\n <\/p>\n
\n After Calhoun conceded the company had not seen a profit in his four years as CEO and that its stock price was down over that period, Hawley cited the salary and pay raise again and said, \u201cIf anyone has come out of this deal good, it\u2019s you,\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cWhy haven\u2019t you resigned?\u201d Hawley followed up.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cSenator, I\u2019m sticking this through. I\u2019m proud of having taken the job. I\u2019m proud of this safety record, and I\u2019m proud of our Boeing people,\u201d Calhoun replied.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cYou\u2019re proud of this safety record?\u201d Hawley asked incredulously.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cI\u2019m proud of every action we have taken,\u201d Calhoun replied.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cEvery action you\u2019ve taken?\u201d Hawley asked again.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cYes, sir,\u201d Calhoun said.\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cWow. There\u2019s some news for you,\u201d Hawley concluded.\n <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
