{"id":1817,"date":"2026-02-11T06:11:05","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T06:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=1817"},"modified":"2026-02-11T06:11:05","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T06:11:05","slug":"supreme-court-maintains-access-to-abortion-pill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=1817","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court maintains access to abortion pill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.cnn.com\/cnnnext\/dam\/assets\/240424174601-dle-scotus-trump-immunity-trial-hp-video.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-editable=\"content\" data-reorderable-component=\"content\">\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-506a7469ab5d8294503e86a19e52402e@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Reproductive rights groups across the US are responding to the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to throw out a challenge to how mifepristone is accessed.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-0b2108736f9484d19b30a3f47c7f5a47@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the <strong>Center for Reproductive Rights<\/strong> said she felt<strong> \u201c<\/strong>both relief and anger about this decision.\u201d She said she was glad the decision had been rejected, but did not believe it should have made it to the Supreme Court in the first place.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-5fdfe974b45851664bd7d7d19513dda6@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Jennifer Dalven<strong>, <\/strong>director of the <strong>American Civil Liberties Union<\/strong> Reproductive Freedom Project warned that while today seemed like a victory for reproductive rights, \u201cwe know that this is far from the end of the line.\u201d Dalven said other politicians were prepared to pose challenges to abortion rights in the US.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-6e5403bfe33bfc9152ee60973adef05a@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Destiny Lopez, acting Co-CEO of the <strong>Guttmacher Institute <\/strong>said the case was \u201crooted in bad faith and lacking any basis in facts or science.\u201d Lopez said it should not have ever reached the top. court, echoing Northup\u2019s sentiment. She also warned that further challenges to anti-abortion rights would arise despite the outcome.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-97d643b5ca422e794ffc040aeef3c043@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            President of the<strong> American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists <\/strong>Stella Dantas said the decision from the Supreme Court \u201cprovides us with long-awaited relief.\u201d Dantas said the findings meant \u201cpatients and clinicians across the country will continue to have access to mifepristone for medication abortion and miscarriage management.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-7aff2c9823bab9c961d5b8c481ae4a41@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The<strong> <\/strong>President of the<strong> American Medical Association (AMA)<\/strong> Bobby Mukkamala released a statement applauding the Supreme Court\u2019s decision. \u201cEfforts to second guess the FDA\u2019s\u00a0scientific judgment\u00a0and roll back access to mifepristone were based on a sham case that not only lacked standing, but relied on speculative allegations and ideological assertions,\u201d the statement said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-ebc3e311ca01f4accadd3b418184793f@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Phyllis Arthur, executive vice president and head of <strong>Healthcare Policy and Programs<\/strong> at BIO said they were pleased that the authority would remain with the FDA to approve new medicines. \u201cToday\u2019s decision ensures patients and drug developers can rely on the rigorous FDA approval process as the scientific and trusted standard for drug approvals.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-814a7e939a5924a47c89d06c81cb6809@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Meanwhile,<strong> Danco<\/strong>, the manufacturer of mifepristone, said it was pleased with the outcome of today\u2019s ruling, which \u201csafeguards access to a drug that has decades of safe and effective use.\u201d The manufacturer said it remained committed to providing safe access to abortion across the US.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-210b660a6d43c231e22499854927acb4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            <em>This post will continue to be updated as more reactions are released. <\/em>\n    <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/politics\/live-news\/supreme-court-abortion-pill-decision-06-13-24\/index.html\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reproductive rights groups across the US are responding to the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to throw out a challenge to how mifepristone is accessed.
