\n Florida Sen. Marco Rubio characterized the meeting with former President Donald Trump as \u201cgetting the team back together\u201d and providing the state of the former president\u2019s campaign.\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cOptimism, but a lot of work to be done,\u201d Rubio said.\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
\n It was a \u201cterrific meeting,\u201d Texas Sen.\u00a0Ted\u00a0Cruz said. \u201cPresident Trump was in very good spirits, focused on winning back the White House.\u201d\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
\n Tennessee Sen. Bill Hagerty said the meeting was \u201cgood.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville said the mood in the room was \u201cunification, leadership,\u201d which he said was \u201cfew and far between up here.\u201d\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
\n Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy said he was interested to see how the Trump press conference went, as he didn\u2019t catch it.\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cI was a point for the president to connect with the people who are in this city,\u201d Cassidy said.\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
\n Asked whether there was any talk about Trump\u2019s potential choice for vice president, Rubio let out a laugh and said no.\n <\/p>\n
\n When asked how the party can be united when some senior Republicans had previously blamed Trump for the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio said:\u00a0\u201cNo real Republican with any credibility in the party is still blaming him.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n \u201cHe expressed frustration over the recent trial, you can imagine, and justifiably in my view,\u201d Texas Sen. John Cornyn\u00a0said. He said Trump did not bring up January 6.\n <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
