The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the formation of a medical team to inspect ex-premier Imran Khan\u2019s eye and also directed that he be allowed to speak to his children \u2014 both before February 16.<\/p>\n
The instructions came as a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and including Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan resumed hearing the case<\/a> regarding the PTI founder\u2019s living conditions in Adiala jail.<\/p>\n The court ordered that the eye inspection and the phone calls be conducted before February 16 (Monday).<\/p>\n However, the bench dismissed the request to have the condition of Imran\u2019s eye \u2014 after he\u00a0[underwent](https:\/\/medical<\/a> procedure)\u00a0a medical procedure on January 24 \u2014\u00a0examined in the presence of his family members.<\/p>\n \u201cThe issue of Imran\u2019s health is most important,\u201d CJP Afridi observed, adding that \u201cintervention was necessary\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to know the government\u2019s stance on the matter of his (Imran\u2019s) health,\u201d the top judge said, at which Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan affirmed that it was the state\u2019s responsibility to provide medical facilities.<\/p>\n \u201cIf the prisoner is not satisfied, then the state will take measures,\u201d AGP Awan added.<\/p>\n CJP Afridi then noted that the issue of Imran\u2019s \u201ctelephone calls with his children is also important\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are trusting the government. The government is in a good mood today,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n On Wednesday, PTI counsel Advocate Salman Safdar, who was appointed amicus curiae and met Imran<\/a> at Rawalpindi\u2019s Adiala jail, submitted<\/a> a seven-page report to SC regarding Imran\u2019s living condition in the prison.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n
