Pakistan on Sunday lost their blockbuster clash with arch-rivals India by 61 runs, being bowled out for 114 in Colombo.<\/p>\n
With the win against Pakistan, India made it to the Super Eight. Pakistan, however, will have to beat Namibia in their last group-stage match on February 18 to qualify for the next round.<\/p>\n
After the match, criticism of the national team\u2019s performance flooded social media, coming from former players and cricketing icons.<\/p>\n
Former Pakistan player and commentator Ramiz Raja called the match \u201ca bit of a disaster \u2014 especially batting\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndia have been fielding [the] same bowling attack against Pakistan since last two or three years, and every time [the] batsmen have been woefully ordinary,\u201d he said in a post on X, adding that there was no growth.<\/p>\n \n <\/a>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/span><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf took aim at Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam and Shadab Khan, saying that \u201ctime\u2019s up\u201d for them.<\/p>\n \u201cPakistan\u2019s T20 squad needs new performers, not empty wins against weaker sides,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \n <\/a>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/span><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Former opener Ahmed Shahzad called Pakistan\u2019s performance \u201cpathetic cricket\u201d and said it was the \u201csad story of Pakistan cricket. Same old faces, same old results. Please don\u2019t fool the nation anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n However, he noted that there was still time to bring in some positive change by bringing in Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Nafay and Salman Mirza.<\/p>\n \u201cThey should be playing,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n \n <\/a>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/span><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Pakistan player Sohaib Maqsood criticised Pakistan\u2019s bowling, calling it \u201cby far the reason for today\u2019s defeat\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not a 180 [run] pitch, even 140 could have been tough to chase on this pitch,\u201d Maqsood said on X.<\/p>\n He added that Pakistan prepared on similar pitches against Australia at home before [the] World Cup, noting that \u201cAgha won all the tosses and batted first. Why [choose] to bowl first today?\u201d<\/p>\n \n <\/a>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/span><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Former England captain Michael Vaughan opined that India \u201cseem to intimidate Pakistan on the cricket field\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThey (India) are so much better in all facets of the game and [have] such a better mentality of coping with the huge occasion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
