An officer was stabbed Friday morning shortly before 9:10 in the\u00a0Livonia, Michigan, police department lobby.<\/p>\n

Local 4 reported<\/a> that a man came into the lobby allegedly \u201cwaving a knife around\u201d and saying he wanted to kill people.<\/p>\n

Officers attempted to tase the man yet the suspect was able to stab an officer in the leg before being subdued. WXYZ noted<\/a> that the officer\u2019s gun \u201cdischarged\u201d when the officer was stabbed, but the round did not strike anyone.<\/p>\n

The suspect who stabbed the officer was allegedly \u201cinvolved in an assault in Westland\u201d approximately one hour before coming to the police department lobby.<\/p>\n

CBS News pointed out<\/a> that the wounded officer \u201cis being treated at a local hospital and is in stable condition,\u201d and \u201cthe suspect is in custody.\u201d<\/p>\n
