Americans stranded in the Middle East<\/a><\/h4>\n

The U.S. State Department is finding ways to help Americans evacuate the Middle East. The department says over the past several days, more than 9,000 Americans have safely returned from the region. Of those 9,000, only 300 are from Israel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Iran and its proxy terrorist militias have issued targeted threats against universities in Lebanon<\/a>, and the State Department has warned Americans to get out now while commercial flights are still available, U.S. officials said.<\/p>\n

Officials said Iran has “specifically threatened” American universities across the Middle East.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut described the security situation in Lebanon as “volatile and unpredictable.”<\/p>\n

“Airstrikes,\u00a0drones\u00a0and rocket attacks\u00a0occur throughout the country, especially in the south, the Beqaa, and parts of Beirut,”\u00a0officials wrote in a security alert.<\/p>\n

STATE DEPARTMENT URGES AMERICANS TO LEAVE MIDDLE EAST AS AIRSPACE CLOSURES DISRUPT TRAVEL<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The U.S. Embassy\u00a0in Beirut added that it strongly\u00a0encourages<\/a> U.S. citizens in\u00a0southern Lebanon, near the border with Syria, in refugee settlements and in the southern suburbs\u00a0of Beirut \u2014 including\u00a0Dahiyeh\u00a0\u2014 to depart those areas\u00a0immediately.<\/p>\n

“We recommend that U.S. citizens\u00a0in Lebanon\u00a0who choose not to\u202fleave prepare contingency plans for emergency situations and be prepared to shelter in place should the situation deteriorate further,” according to the State Department.<\/a><\/p>\n

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut is providing limited passport services on an emergency basis to U.S. citizens.<\/p>\n
