Hillary Scholten made the personal disclosure on her X account, claiming she wanted to\u00a0be \u201cup front\u201d with her constituents about the breakup with spouse Jesse Holcomb.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to share something personal,\u201d the mother of two wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier this year, our family went through a heartbreaking change when my husband of 20 years suddenly left our family home and then filed for divorce.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button class=\"button button--modal-trigger\" aria-label=\"Open the image in a modal.\" data-modal-image=\"38988645\"><br \/>\n\t<svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"icon-plus\" fill=\"#fff\" viewbox=\"0 0 1033 1000\" width=\"1em\" height=\"1em\"><path d=\"M380 364V0h273v355h380v290H653v355H380V645H0V355h380v9z\"\/><\/svg><br \/>\n<\/button><br \/>\n<figcaption>House Rep. stability.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWe have been overcoming every day,\u201d Scholten, a Grand Rapids Dem, stated.<\/p>\n<p>Court records reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2026\/04\/03\/grand-rapids-michigan-congresswoman-hillary-scholten-husband-jesse-holcomb-getting-a-divorce\/89457626007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by the Detroit News<\/a> indicate that Holcomb filed for divorce on Jan. 26 in Kent County Circuit Court.<\/p>\n<p>An email seeking comment from Holcomb, who is a journalism professor, was not immediately returned.<\/p>\n<p>Scholten, 44, has shared numerous photos of the now-former couple on her Instagram page, including in a Christmas greeting with the entire family last December.<\/p>\n<p>The official biography on her congressional page now only mentions her raising her two sons and taking care of the family dog.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image lawmaker, who is up for reelection this year, also insisted that despite the heartbreak, she\u2019s passed legislation and is dedicated to her constituents.<\/p>\n<p>Scholten also stressed she\u2019s \u201cgrown an extra chamber in my heart for moms and dads out there who have had to go through this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI honor your work and, and I am fighting for you,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt goes without saying that this a deeply personal matter.
