The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has announced her resignation from office, expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in his administration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a statement shared on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Onyejeocha said, \u201cIt is with a heart full of gratitude that I announce my resignation as Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment. This decision comes with profound gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the opportunity to serve Nigeria in his administration.\u201d<\/p>\n

She described her exit as the close of a significant chapter in her public service, while affirming her continued commitment to national development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not an end but a new beginning. I remain committed to service, to progress, and to building the Nigeria we all deserve,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The former minister thanked the President for his trust and leadership, noting that serving under the administration\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda was both an honour and a privilege.<\/p>\n

She also expressed appreciation to officials and staff of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment for their dedication and professionalism, stating that their collaboration helped advance policies aimed at protecting workers\u2019 rights, promoting workplace safety, and expanding employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

Onyejeocha further extended her gratitude to her constituents in Isuikwuato\/Umunneochi Federal Constituency for their support and encouragement throughout her tenure.<\/p>\n

Addressing Nigerians, she said: \u201cThank you for your support, feedback, and constructive engagement during my tenure. Serving Nigeria has been the greatest privilege of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

She reiterated her commitment to continued service and national progress, noting that as one chapter closes, another begins.<\/p>\n

Her resignation also follows President Bola Tinubu\u2019s directive for all political appointees seeking to contest in the 2027 general elections to resign by March 31, 2026, to ensure a level playing field.<\/p>\n

This directive, issued by the SGF to affect ministers, aides, and agency heads, complies with the Electoral Act 2026.<\/p>\n

Following this, several officials have left their posts to pursue political office:
Yusuf Tuggar (Foreign Affairs) and Sa\u2019idu Ahmed Alkali (Transportation) resigned for governorship bids in Bauchi and Gombe states, respectively.
