{"id":40796,"date":"2026-04-04T09:39:48","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T09:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=40796"},"modified":"2026-04-04T09:39:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T09:39:48","slug":"two-people-arrested-on-suspicion-of-murder-after-collision-involving-pedestrian-in-barnsley-uk-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=40796","title":{"rendered":"Two people arrested on suspicion of murder after collision involving pedestrian in Barnsley | UK News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/26\/04\/1920x1080\/skynews-barnsley-south-yorkshire_7210673.jpg?20260404093104\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-component-name=\"ui-article-body\" data-testid=\"article-body\" data-highlight-intro=\"true\">\n<p>A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a collision in Barnsley.<\/p>\n<p>Police were called by the ambulance service after a report of a collision between a Volkswagen Touareg and a pedestrian on Rose Tree Avenue in the Cudworth area of the Yorkshire town around 4.55pm on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The pedestrian, a 45-year-old man, died at the scene, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/topic\/south-yorkshire-6004\/1\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>South Yorkshire<\/strong><\/a> Police said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>His family have been informed and are being supported by officers, the force said.<\/p>\n<p>A 60-year-old man and a woman aged 38 were arrested on suspicion of murder and are still in custody.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Chief Inspector Simon Cartwright appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact them.<\/p>\n<p>He said the investigation into &#8220;this tragic incident is still in its early stages and our thoughts first and foremost are with the victim&#8217;s family, friends and loved ones&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Officers will remain in Rose Tree Avenue carrying out further enquiries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A crime scene remains in place in the area as police carry out enquiries.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/two-people-arrested-on-suspicion-of-murder-after-collision-involving-pedestrian-in-barnsley-13527828\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a collision in Barnsley.
