The Pakistan Navy on Saturday inducted the second<\/a> Milgem-class corvette into its fleet, said a statement from the service\u2019s public relations department.<\/p>\n The warship is the second of four Milgem class corvettes, the contract for which was signed with ASFAT Inc, a Turkish state-owned defence contractor firm in 2018<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n Under this contract, two ships were to be constructed in Turkiye and the remaining two ships in Pakistan.<\/p>\n At the induction ceremony of the warship PNS Khaibar, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted that Pakistan\u2019s strategic location along vital maritime trade and energy corridors demands a potent naval force to safeguard national interests and ensure secure sea lines of communication (SLOCs).<\/p>\n The naval chief maintained that during last year\u2019s war with India<\/a>, the navy was \u201cpoised to sink\u201d the Indian Navy\u2019s aircraft carrier, which forced the warship and its escorts to retreat to their \u201cperceived safe havens\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe mastery and conduct of naval operations during Marka-i-Haq delivers an unequivocal message that any attempt to challenge Pakistan\u2019s maritime interests will be met with an appropriate response,\u201d the statement quoted the naval chief as saying.<\/p>\n Admiral Ashraf emphasised that the navy is being equipped with \u201cstate-of-the-art\u201d platforms and niche technologies, enabling it to target \u201ccritical infrastructure and naval assets of the adversary\u201d.<\/p>\n The commissioning ceremony<\/a> for PNS Khaibar was held at Istanbul Naval Shipyard in December 2025.<\/p>\n At the event, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had emphasised the need for enhanced mutual collaboration in the field of defence production between the two countries.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n
