I wasn\u2019t pretty the way girls are pretty. I was cute. I can look good. I can fully look good, but that was not my ticket. And that\u2019s very important for me because that was never the thing I relied on.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI have succumbed, and have talked about it many times, to trying all the things,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019ve sucked the fat, I\u2019ve cut the fat. I\u2019ve tried to do the things that people do that everybody\u2019s doing, and it doesn\u2019t work. There are many things that happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t work, first of all, because of the self-esteem issue,\u201d she added. \u201cBecause you ultimately are looking in the mirror and realizing you\u2019ve used something outside of yourself to change something to make you \u2018better.\u2019 But you\u2019re not better because you\u2019re still the same person as you were before.\u201d<\/p>\nCurtis photographed at her apartment on March 22, 1978 in Los Angeles, California. Curtis also spoke about the moment she realized that comparing herself to others was going against everything she was preaching.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople were comparing themselves to me the same way I would compare myself to someone else,\u201d said Curtis.<\/p>\nCurtis attends Variety\u2019s 2025 Power Of Women at The Beverly Hills Hotel on October 29, 2025. Curtis decided to pose in her underwear, completely unfiltered, in a photoshoot for More magazine in 2002 while promoting her children\u2019s book, \u201cI\u2019m Gonna Like Me: Letting Off a Little Self-Esteem.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI realized I was a liar,\u201d she said. \u201cBecause if I was paying attention to what I wrote [in my children\u2019s book], I wouldn\u2019t have done plastic surgery. I wouldn\u2019t have done liposuction.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I said, you know what? I\u2019m going to take a picture of me in my undies with no good light, no makeup, no hair,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to stand there au natural, and you\u2019re going to take my picture, and then you\u2019re going to let me get all dolled up, but you\u2019re going to have to print those two pictures side by side, and you\u2019re going to have to say how long it took, how much money it took, how many people were involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut that was even then me understanding that what we\u2019re selling is fraudulent,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
