Like the 1987 Brooks-directed original, the sequel is expected to riff on popular sci-fi franchises like \u201cStar Wars,\u201d \u201cStar Trek\u201d and \u201cAlien.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe sequel was revealed last summer in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MelBrooks\/status\/1933196954273755322?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">video shared<\/a> by Brooks. \u201cThirty-eight years ago, there was only one \u2018Star Wars\u2019 trilogy,\u201d the crawl reads. \u201cBut since then there have been \u2026 a prequel trilogy, a sequel trilogy, a sequel to the prequel, a prequel to the sequel, countless TV spinoffs, a movie spinoff of the TV spinoff, which is both a prequel and a sequel.\u201dThe video points out that other franchises like \u201cJurassic Park, \u201cAvatar\u201d and \u201cHarry Potter\u201d have also continued to expand. \u201cBut in 38 years,\u201d it concluded, \u201cThere has only ever been one \u2018Spaceballs.\u2019 Until now\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPlot details about the sequel, including its title, are being kept under wraps, but \u201cthe title is rumored to be the name of the movie, and plot details are being described as information about what happens in the story,\u201d reads Amazon MGM\u2019s tongue-in-cheek synopsis.
