{"id":41240,"date":"2026-04-04T20:31:47","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T20:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=41240"},"modified":"2026-04-04T20:31:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T20:31:47","slug":"nyc-woman-idd-as-mom-of-2-after-being-struck-and-killed-by-ambulance-in-brooklyn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=41240","title":{"rendered":"NYC woman ID&#8217;d as mom of 2 after being struck and killed by ambulance in Brooklyn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A Brooklyn nurse was publicly identified Saturday as the victim struck and killed by an ambulance in Midwood, police said. <\/p>\n<p>The ambulance, operated by Maimonides Medical Center, was making a left turn from Avenue O onto Ocean Avenue when it hit Cherry Cayetano Sobel, 44, on Thursday, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver didn\u2019t stop.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button class=\"button button--modal-trigger\" aria-label=\"Open the image in a modal.\" data-modal-image=\"38992309\"><br \/>\n\t<svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"icon-plus\" fill=\"#fff\" viewbox=\"0 0 1033 1000\" width=\"1em\" height=\"1em\"><path d=\"M380 364V0h273v355h380v290H653v355H380V645H0V355h380v9z\"\/><\/svg><br \/>\n<\/button><br \/>\n<figcaption>The Maimonides Medical Center ambulance struck Cherry Cayetano Sobel, 44, about a mile and a half from her Midwood home. <span class=\"credit\">Facebook \/ Ajomol Joshy<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Cayetano Sobel, who lived a mile and a half from where she was struck, was rushed to Maimonides but couldn\u2019t be saved.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives don\u2019t believe the driver realized they hit someone.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital suspended the ambulance crew pending the outcome of an investigation, according to a statement from officials.  <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThe Maimonides family is devastated by this tragic loss,\u201d the statement reads. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur EMT staff who were involved in the incident have been suspended pending the outcome of the NYPD\u2019s investigation. Our heart goes out to the victim\u2019s family and friends.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>There were no immediate criminal charges.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button
