A Bay Area police chief is under fire after allegedly clipping a family\u2019s car on the highway in a hit-and-run<\/a> \u2014\u00a0later claiming chest pain forced her to drive on the shoulder while speeding home.<\/p>\n San Leandro\u2019s Police Chief Angela Averiett<\/a> was behind the wheel of her department-issued Jeep on Interstate 580 near Dublin last year when she veered from the shoulder into a lane where a family was driving home San Francisco Giants game<\/a> near Dublin, ABC 7 reported.<\/a><\/p>\n The driver of the family car, Daffani Ryan, stunned and shaken with her husband and two kids inside, immediately called 911.<\/p>\n California Post News<\/strong>: Facebook<\/a>, Instagram<\/a>, TikTok<\/a>, X<\/a>, YouTube<\/a>, WhatsApp<\/a>, LinkedIn<\/a> \u201cI just got hit by a police officer,\u201d she told dispatchers, describing the impact as sounding like a shotgun blast.<\/p>\n Ryan told ABC 7 the silver Jeep\u2019s lights were flashing right before \u201cit smoked my mirror,\u201d clipped her driver\u2019s side and sped off without stopping.<\/p>\n Her husband was able to take down the vehicle\u2019s the license plate number, which the California Highway Patrol traced back to Averiett\u2019s SUV.<\/p>\n
