Elise Stefanik (R-NY) described her upcoming book,\u00a0<em>Poisoned Ivies: The Inside Account of the Academic and Moral Rot at America\u2019s Elite Universities<\/em>, as being a \u201cdeep dive\u201d into each of the elite universities in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>During an <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/breitbart\/rep-elise-stefanik-r-ny-april\">interview<\/a> on <em>Breitbart News Saturday<\/em>\u00a0with host Breitbart News Washington bureau chief Matthew Boyle, Stefanik spoke about how many of the Ivy League universities were founded before the United States earned independence in 1776. Stefanik said that the Ivy League universities have \u201cfundamentally lost their way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople will remember the hearing heard around the world with university presidents from Harvard, Penn, and MIT, that really created an earthquake in higher education when I asked them a very direct, moral question: \u2018Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate your university\u2019s code of conduct?\u2019 And, almost verbatim, they all answered, \u2018It depends on the context.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt that moment, it became the most viewed testimony in the history of the United States Congress. And it was a watershed moment in that it revealed not only the moral, but the academic rot happening at these institutions. Many of these quote-unquote elite institutions were founded even before our country\u2019s founding\u00a0\u2014 take the case of Harvard, founded in 1636, and they were founded upon American principles, and they fundamentally lost their way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe book I\u2019ve been working on for three years, it\u2019s a deep dive at each of these institutions. And, it also highlights the important work that we\u2019re doing with President Trump through executive action and legislatively, to rein in higher ed, to make sure that it\u2019s focused on American values.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><strong>Listen:<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/soundcloud%253Atracks%253A2296533689&amp;color=%23ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;show_teaser=true&amp;visual=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When Boyle pointed out that Democrats \u201cahead of the midterm elections, are trying to scare\u201d Ivy League universities from \u201cdoing any future deals\u201d or cooperating with the Trump administration on making changes, Stefanik said Democrats \u201chave treated these institutions as an arm of their political ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my chapters on Harvard, I literally talk about how the Harvard Corporation, which is the board that oversees Harvard, are mostly Obama appointees from his cabinet. Barack Obama actually called the Harvard Corporation to urge them to keep Claudine Gay\u00a0\u2014 this is despite her massive plagiarism scandal, that of course was revealed after the hearing,\u201d Stefanik added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor so long, these institutions have been entitled to U.S. taxpayer dollars, and after this hearing, they failed to fix themselves. So, what did we do? We correctly worked with President Trump.
