\u201cMalcolm in the Middle\u201d is back \u2014 but one familiar face walked away from a major payday to return for the hit show.<\/p>\n
Erik Per Sullivan, who played the titular character Malcolm\u2019s younger brother Dewey, turned down \u201cbuckets of money\u201d to star in the Disney+ reboot<\/a>, according to his former co-star Jane Kaczmarek.<\/p>\n Instead, the former child star, now 34, has focused on academics, pursuing a master\u2019s degree in Victorian literature at Harvard and staying out of the spotlight.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s studying Dickens and is an incredible student,\u201d Kaczmarek told The Guardian<\/a>. \u201cThey offered him buckets of money to come back, and he just said, \u2018No thank you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The four-episode revival reunites Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston and Kaczmarek as Malcolm\u2019s parents Hal and Lois, along with Chris Masterson and Justin Berfield as Malcolm\u2019s older brothers Francis and Reese, with the story now following a grown-up Malcolm raising a daughter.<\/p>\n
