\n\tLisa Kudrow<\/a> said during a recent Interview Magazine profile<\/a> that she\u2019s \u201cnot drawn\u201d to new multi-camera sitcoms. The \u201cFriends<\/a>\u201d star thinks it\u2019s because new shows are \u201ctoo afraid\u201d to make jokes that make audiences \u201cuncomfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWhen asked if the sitcom genre is evolving or dying, Kurdrow said, \u201cI wish they were evolving. \u201830 Rock\u2019 and \u2018Seinfeld\u2019 and \u2018Friends\u2019 were really funny and really well written. But I\u2019m not drawn to new sitcoms that are multi-camera in front of an audience because I\u2019m not buying it. I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s just because I\u2019ve seen too many single-camera sitcoms\u2014I think we need to get back to being able to tell jokes. I feel like we\u2019ve been too afraid to make jokes that might make people uncomfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tShe added, \u201cBut the really good ones, they\u2019re not tame jokes. They\u2019re jokes that are kind of, \u2018I can\u2019t believe you just said that.\u2019 Comedy is about surprise. You need things you didn\u2019t see coming.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tKudrow starred as the free-spirited Phoebe Buffay in all 10 seasons of \u201cFriends,\u201d arguably the most iconic multi-camera sitcom of all time. Her leading castmates were Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc. Kudrow\u2019s \u201cFriends\u201d role earned her an Emmy in 1998 for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe Comeback\u201d star said during the height of \u201cFriends,\u201d fans always told her they thought Phoebe was \u201csuch a ditz.\u201d However, Kudrow never interpreted her that way.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAt the time, it was like, \u2018She\u2019s such a ditz. How is it that you only play ditzes?\u2019 And I thought, \u2018Is she a ditz?\u2019 To me, she wasn\u2019t,\u201d she said. \u201cIn 1994, it was like, \u201cI love her. She\u2019s such a ditz.\u201d And it\u2019s like, yeah, okay, that was what a ditz was to us. Someone who wasn\u2019t toeing the line\u2026. But she wasn\u2019t stupid.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
