{"id":42456,"date":"2026-04-06T02:58:04","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T02:58:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=42456"},"modified":"2026-04-06T02:58:04","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T02:58:04","slug":"trump-leading-democratization-of-american-retirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=42456","title":{"rendered":"Trump Leading Democratization of American Retirement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">Former House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) said on\u00a0<em>Breitbart News Saturday<\/em> that a Trump administration proposal would allow Americans to invest in assets through their 401(k)s that were previously only available to the rich.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump Department of Labor has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/04\/01\/labor-department-moves-to-democratize-access-to-alternative-investments-in-401k-plans\/\">moved<\/a> forward with a proposal that would allow 401(k) retirement plans to more easily include alternative assets such as cryptocurrency, real estate, and private market assets.<\/p>\n<p>Hensarling told\u00a0<em>Breitbart News Saturday<\/em> host Matthew Boyle that the proposal would democratize 401(k)s to give Americans more options to invest in. Most retirement plans typically have limited broad-basket investment options such as target-date funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were a lot of reasons that America elected Donald Trump the second time but one of those reasons is that most Americans were tired of elitists telling them how to run their lives, be it Washington elites, Hollywood elites, or Ivy Leagues. And, part of that elitism is bureaucracies in Washington telling people how to invest their own money,\u201d Hensarling explained.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?visual=true&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F2296549520&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;maxheight=960&amp;maxwidth=640\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He added that, for decades, only the country\u2019s elite were allowed to invest in assets such as private equity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">Hensarling said this is all part of the \u201cdemocratization of our financial system,\u201d which would let \u201cpeople have greater control over their own money.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p>The former congressman added that this would help American retirement accounts.
