say.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers need to understand local risks before leaving the ship, especially in destinations with higher crime rates or active government warnings, experts say.<\/p>\n<p>A recent podcast, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Travel Scouts,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0highlighted a number of cruise ports that have elevated safety concerns, based on crime data and international travel advisories.<\/p>\n<p>Here are five mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou need to have information so you can make wise decisions,\u201d the podcast noted.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Belize<\/h2>\n<p>Belize was the first cruise port the podcast mentioned in this regard.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly one million cruise passengers visit the country each year \u2014 but Belize City is currently under a Level 3 advisory from the U.S. State Department, meaning\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/04\/lifestyle\/cleanest-cruise-lines-in-the-world-revealed-but-who-topped-the-list-for-the-most-norovirus-outbreaks\/\">travelers are urged<\/a>\u00a0to reconsider visiting.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Industry experts warn popular cruise ports like Belize and Haiti pose safety href=\"https:\/\/www.thetravelscouts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cThe Travel Scouts\u201d<\/a>\u00a0podcast, along with his wife, Kellie. \u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trinidad and Tobago<\/h2>\n<p>Another port that has raised concerns is Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n<p>The locations remain under a Level 3 advisory due to crime \u2014 with Cruises and Holland America, have scheduled stops there, the podcast said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jamaica<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/23\/lifestyle\/travel-influencer-pulls-off-extreme-8-hour-trip-to-jamaica-flies-home-to-new-york-the-same-night\/\">Jamaica, a key stop<\/a>\u00a0for Caribbean cruises, presents both progress and remaining risks.<\/p>\n<p>While overall conditions have improved and the country is\u00a0now rated at Level 2, certain areas are high risk.<\/p>\n<figure and ensure you do not plan to get a taxi and go out solo to explore,\u201d Jason said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mexico<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/24\/world-news\/cruise-operators-to-skip-mexican-ports-over-cartel-violence\/\">Mexico also<\/a>\u00a0draws millions of cruise visitors each year, but safety can vary widely depending on location.<\/p>\n<p>Ports along the Yucat\u00e1n Peninsula are generally considered safe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter
