Robert De Niro reacted to President Donald Trump saying the actor has Trump Derangement Syndrome by insisting that claim is \u201cnonsense\u201d before calling the president \u201cdamaged.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat do you say to Trump and his allies who are saying you have the TDS \u2014 Trump Derangement Syndrome?\u201d political correspondent Nicholas Ballasy asked De Niro, to which the\u00a0Raging Bull<\/em> star\u00a0replied<\/a>, \u201cNonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n De Niro went on to say, \u201cPeople don\u2019t like him for a reason, of all the terrible things he\u2019s done.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf he did nice things \u2014 he had the chance, he became president, to do nice things, not hateful, retribution, just outright mean things \u2014 if he did nice things, people would love him,\u201d the Casino<\/em> actor added. \u201cBut he\u2019s got a problem. He\u2019s damaged.\u201d<\/p>\n After being asked what his \u201cmain criticism\u201d is of President Trump, De Niro responded, \u201cEverything.\u201d<\/p>\n The\u00a0Meet the Parents<\/em> star then paused briefly, seemingly about to elaborate on his answer, but only added, \u201cEverything that we all know now,\u201d failing to offer any additional insight on the reasons for his extreme views.<\/p>\n Notably,\u00a0De Niro has called the president \u201ca piece of shit,\u201d a \u201cnasty little bitch,\u201d and an \u201cenemy\u201d of the United States, as well as someone he would like to \u201cpunch\u201d in \u201cthe face.\u201d<\/p>\n The Cape Fear<\/em> actor was in the nation\u2019s capital on Wednesday, sitting in on arguments\u00a0by the U.S. Supreme Court about birthright citizenship.<\/p>\n After being asked for his opinion on how he felt the arguments went, De Niro replied, \u201cI\u2019m not sure, because I could hear, but not hear. It\u2019s complicated. So, I can\u2019t say.\u201d<\/p>\n The 82-year-old also dismissed the Trump administration\u2019s argument on\u00a0birthright citizenship \u2014 that children born to parents who are in the country illegally are not U.S. citizens \u2014 as a way for Republicans to \u201cget rid of people they don\u2019t want.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s that simple,\u201d De Niro insisted.<\/p>\n Alana Mastrangelo is a reporter for Breitbart News.
