The lawmaker stressed to <em>Europapress<\/em> that limiting Spain\u2019s tourism industry is necessary, as he believes it has already made it \u201cimpossible to live\u201d in cities like Alicante or Valencia.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p><em>Europapress<\/em> reports that Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez recently submitted a request to the Spanish Congress to establish a parliamentary subcommittee to analyze the impact of tourism on people\u2019s quality of life. The lawmaker told the outlet that the proposed subcommittee\u2019s goal is to capture the \u201cfrustration\u201d felt by the country\u2019s tourist cities, and stressed that in many coastal cities, \u201cresidents are being pushed out so that neighborhoods can become tourist attractions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further told the outlet that more cruise ships and passengers arrive in Valencia than the city has residents, which is why he believes this activity must be limited, since, in his view, it greatly affects the city\u2019s quality of life and \u201cdoes not contribute\u201d economically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">\u201cYou close a bakery to open a locker rental or bike rental shop, with all the harm this causes the city,\u201d Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez said, and emphasized his support for \u201ctourism degrowth\u201d given this situation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<p>\u201cWe say this without any hesitation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2040756092657971214\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/europapress_tv\/status\/2040756092657971214\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez said that his leftist coalition presented the subcommittee proposal after the socialist government\u2019s Secretary of State for Tourism appeared before Congress and \u201cdeeply disappointed us.\u201d\u00a0 According to the lawmaker, her remarks failed to acknowledge the distress facing tourist cities in our country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the Valencian region, not only in coastal towns and cities, but particularly in cities like Valencia or Alicante, it is impossible to live.
