The US Air Force colonel who was shot down over Iran and rescued after 36 hours <\/a>had sent a suspicious three-word message that sparked fears US officials were being lured into a trap.<\/p>\n

After the seriously wounded weapons officer, who has yet to be publicly identified, climbed a 7,000-foot ridge and hid in a crevice for safety<\/a>, he submitted a short, unusual message over the radio \u2014 \u201cGod is good,\u201d a US defense official told Axios<\/a>.<\/p>\n

President Trump and his team<\/a> initially feared that the signal could be a ruse to lure more American soldiers into a dangerous situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat he said on the radio sounded like something a Muslim would say,\u201d Trump told Axios, referencing the Islamic phrase \u201cAllahu Akbar,\u201d or \u201cGod is great.\u201d<\/p>\n
