{"id":43360,"date":"2026-04-07T01:26:03","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T01:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=43360"},"modified":"2026-04-07T01:26:03","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T01:26:03","slug":"rnc-sues-to-block-virginia-law-allowing-non-residents-to-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=43360","title":{"rendered":"RNC Sues to Block Virginia Law Allowing Non-Residents to Vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">The Republican National Committee (RNC) announced that it had filed a lawsuit to prevent non-residents from being able to vote in elections in Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release on Monday, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/gop.com\/press-release\/rnc-files-lawsuit-to-stop-non-resident-voting-in-virginia\/\">revealed<\/a> that the RNC and RITE PAC filed a lawsuit against the Virginia State Board of Elections over a \u201cprovision in state law that allows non-residents to vote\u201d in elections.<\/p>\n<p>While the provision is described as having been \u201cwritten to allow military members to vote while living overseas,\u201d people who have \u201cnever lived in\u201d Virginia or even the United States are allowed to \u201cregister and vote\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u2022 Today, the RNC and RITE PAC filed a lawsuit against the Virginia State Board of Elections challenging a provision in state law that allows non-residents to vote in the state\u2019s elections.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supposedly written to allow military members to vote while living overseas, Virginia law currently allows individuals who have never lived in the state\u00a0\u2014 or the country\u00a0\u2014 to register and vote.<\/li>\n<li>These individuals are permitted to cast ballots in federal elections without establishing residency in Virginia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cPeople who have never lived in Virginia\u00a0\u2014 or even in the United States\u00a0\u2014 should not be voting in Virginia\u2019s election,\u201d RNC Chairman Joe Gruters said in a statement. \u201cVirginia officials are ignoring the Virginia Constitution and allowing ineligible voters to cast ballots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2041230747285979598\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCVoteProtect\/status\/2041230747285979598\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an action challenging the constitutionality of Va. Code\u00a0\u00a7\u00a7 24.2-452(1)(e) and 24.2-456, which collectively permit the registration and voting of individuals who (a) were born outside of the United States and (b) have never resided in the Commonwealth, in direct violation of Va. Const. art.
