{"id":43399,"date":"2026-04-07T02:25:18","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T02:25:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=43399"},"modified":"2026-04-07T02:25:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T02:25:18","slug":"democrats-plot-impeachment-of-trump-a-third-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=43399","title":{"rendered":"Democrats Plot Impeachment of Trump a Third Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"subheading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Free Speech For People said in a press release Monday that a new national poll found \u201ca majority of likely 2026 voters nationwide support impeaching President Donald Trump,\u201d which the group called \u201can extraordinary and unprecedented level of support so early in a presidential term.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The poll, conducted by Lake Research Partners from March 26-30 among 800 likely 2026 general election voters, found that 52 percent support impeaching Trump, while 40 percent oppose it. 46 percent said they strongly support impeachment, compared with 37 percent who strongly oppose it, while 8 percent said they were unsure or had no opinion.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Free Speech For People said that \u201csupport for impeachment spans party lines,\u201d pointing to 84 percent support among Democrats, with eight percent opposed. Among independents, 55 percent support impeachment and 34 percent oppose it. Republicans oppose impeachment by an 81 percent to 14 percent margin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the survey, 38 percent said they approve of the job Trump is doing as president, while 57 percent said they disapprove. 53 percent said they strongly disapprove.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH\u00a0\u2014\u00a0President Trump: \u201cGod Doesn\u2019t Like What\u2019s Happening, I Don\u2019t Like What\u2019s Happening\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"rumble\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/embed\/v75yo8u\/?pub=he97b\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The memo released by Lake Research Partners notes that the survey was conducted through live telephone and text-to-online interviews and weighted by gender, age, region, race, educational attainment, and partisanship to reflect likely 2026 voters nationwide. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The demographic breakdown of the sample showed 53 percent women and 47 percent men. Thirty percent of respondents were age 65 or older, while 25 percent were between 50 and 64 years old. 39 percent identified as Democrats, 34 percent as Republicans, 19 percent as independents or undecided, and five percent identified with another party.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before asking whether respondents support or oppose impeaching Trump, the survey told them that \u201cseveral members of Congress have recently come out in support of impeaching President Donald Trump for violating Americans\u2019 constitutional rights and the law, including actions by ICE in the U.S. and the war he started with Iran.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The results were <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FR_cAvwNjQ0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reviewed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during a virtual press briefing Monday hosted by Free Speech For People President John Bonifaz and Lake Research Partners pollster David Mermin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bonifaz stated that \u201cmore than 1 million people across the country have joined us in calling for the impeachment removal of Donald Trump from public office\u201d through Free Speech For People\u2019s campaign at impeachtrumpagain.org. He added that the organization has \u201cdocumented more than 25 grounds for impeachment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Breitbart News <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/01\/07\/democrats-plot-to-impeach-trump-gains-steam-ahead-of-midterm-elections\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that in January, Free Speech For People joined Citizens\u2019 Impeachment, the Removal Coalition, Women\u2019s March, and the 50501 Movement in launching an expanded \u201cFree America Walkout\u201d campaign to pressure Congress to impeach Trump and senior administration officials. The coalition urged supporters to visit congressional district offices on January 20 to demand impeachment proceedings. They also pointed to Trump\u2019s military strike on Venezuela, military action involving Iran, ICE operations, and what it called \u201ca larger pattern of unchecked aggression\u201d as the basis for its impeachment push.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a9d adSo\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mermin remarked, \u201cI\u2019ve been doing this work for 30 years, and we\u2019ve had the science of modern public opinion polling for about 90 years, and we believe there has never been this early in a presidential term, finding that a majority of American voters are in favor of impeaching the president.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Mullin: Dems \u201cPutting Homeland at Risk\u201d Over Pay Fight:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"rumble\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/embed\/v75uuzs\/?pub=he97b\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mermin contended that the only other periods in which polling showed majority support for impeachment came near the end of Richard Nixon\u2019s presidency and during Trump\u2019s first term \u2014 first during his 2019 impeachment proceedings and again in the final weeks after January 6, 2021. He noted that during President Bill Clinton\u2019s impeachment proceedings, most polling did not show majority support for impeachment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThere were a few moments in Trump\u2019s first term when you reached a majority in other public polls, around the time of the January 6 attempted coup attempt, and the weeks following that, the last few weeks of his first term,\u201d Mermin said. \u201cBut certainly not in the first year or first slightly over a year of his term.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among independents, Mermin said the findings represented what he called \u201ca high watermark\u201d for opposition to Trump.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a9d adSo\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTo have a clear, solid majority, 55% of independents saying they want to impeach the president is remarkable and striking, and certainly an important finding here,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mermin also said the Republican number stood out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt is notable that you\u2019ve got about one in seven Republican voters who are now saying, actually, we should impeach the president. They don\u2019t believe he\u2019s fit to remain in office,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new polling emerged as Democrat lawmakers and party figures renewed discussion of a third impeachment effort against Trump. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2026\/04\/03\/khanna-trump-should-be-impeached-over-iran-democrats-will-impeach-him-once-we-take-back-the-house\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last week that Trump \u201cshould be impeached now\u201d over Iran and argued Democrats will move ahead if they regain control of Congress.
