{"id":43888,"date":"2026-04-07T14:35:05","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T14:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=43888"},"modified":"2026-04-07T14:35:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T14:35:05","slug":"italian-airports-begin-rationing-jet-fuel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=43888","title":{"rendered":"Italian Airports Begin Rationing Jet Fuel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">The conflict in the Middle East is already starting to bite in Europe, as multiple Italian airports announced jet fuel rationing measures this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">Amid the growing backlog of ships refusing to cross the Strait of Hormuz \u2014 over concern that Islamist Iranian terrorists may fire from the coastline on their vessels or potentially run into the sea mines allegedly released by the regime in Tehran into the waterway \u2014 an energy crisis looms over import-heavy countries, such as those in much of Europe.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p>Italian daily <em>Corriere Della Sera<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/corrieredibologna.corriere.it\/notizie\/cronaca\/26_aprile_05\/carburante-a-rischio-per-i-voli-limitazioni-anche-a-bologna-il-presidente-del-marconi-postacchini-per-ora-nessuna-ripercussione-31ace607-2454-4a4b-b8fe-0878b77b6xlk.shtml?refresh_ce\">reported<\/a> that four airports in the north of the country have imposed rationing measures on jet fuel supplies this week. The paper reported that Bologna, Milan Linate, Treviso, and Venice airports will have \u201climited\u201d fuel supplies for flights until at least the evening of April 9th.<\/p>\n<p>While the airports had ensured that all Easter travel was accommodated, the rationing measures this week were intended to ensure that there would be supplies for emergency services, so that \u201cpriority will be given to ambulance flights, state flights and flights with a duration of more than three hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">The restrictions limit all short-haul flights to a supply of only 2,000 litres of fuel, which,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2026\/04\/06\/jet-fuel-crisis-rationing-triggered-at-four-airports-in-italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a>\u00a0to Euronews, would guarantee less than an hour of operation for planes such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<p>The outlet noted that unless planes refuel at other airports, they could be prevented from operating even some domestic routes within Italy, including the flight from Veneto to Sicily.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2040058989682270251\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/2040058989682270251\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Budget airline Ryanair \u2014 the main operator out of Bologna \u2014 said it doesn\u2019t expect any cancellations due to fuel shortages in the near term, as its own fuel supplies will last until mid to late May.
