Nathaniel Moran (R-TX), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and former Republican Rep. Kevin Kiley (I-CA) pushed back on President Donald Trump, rejecting his statement that Iran\u2019s \u201cwhole civilization will die tonight,\u201d as at least 70 House Democrats called for impeachment or invocation of the 25th Amendment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><b>***UPDATE:***\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116365796713313030\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">United States<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/04\/07\/world\/live-news\/iran-war-trump-us-israel?post-id=cmnp7miad00003b6s9x0ujhe8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Israel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/araghchi\/status\/2041655156215799821?s=20\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Iran<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have agreed to a two week ceasefire.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trump took to Truth Social on Tuesday morning to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/04\/06\/nolte-trump-makes-clear-he-wants-finish-it-up-iran\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">warn<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Iran\u2019s \u201cwhole civilization will die tonight\u201d unless \u201csomething revolutionarily wonderful\u201d occurred after what he described as \u201cComplete and Total Regime Change.\u201d The post followed remarks Trump made Monday during the White House Easter Egg Roll, when he said the conflict could end quickly but that he wanted to \u201cfinish it up,\u201d adding that \u201cIran CANNOT have a nuclear weapon.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moran said he supports Trump\u2019s Iran actions under the Constitution and War Powers Resolution, but said he does not support \u201cthe destruction of a whole civilization\u201d and that America must act through \u201cjust and moral means.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2041586429164450028\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepNateMoran\/status\/2041586429164450028\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Murkowski said Trump\u2019s threat that \u201ca whole civilization will die tonight\u201d could not be dismissed as negotiating leverage, calling it an affront to American ideals that endangered Americans at home and abroad, distinguishing Iran\u2019s ruling Islamic Republic from \u201cthe people and the civilization of Iran,\u201d and urging both Trump and Iran\u2019s leaders to de-escalate.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2041614215501479964\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lisamurkowski\/status\/2041614215501479964\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kiley, who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/03\/18\/rep-kevin-kiley-loses-committee-assignments-after-leaving-republican-party\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lost<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> his committee assignments after resigning from the Republican Party and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/03\/07\/gop-rep-kevin-kiley-files-for-reelection-as-independent-in-california-as-redistricting-battle-continues\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">filing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for reelection under California\u2019s \u201cNo Party Preference\u201d designation, likewise rejected the formulation. Kiley said the United States \u201cdoes not destroy civilizations\u201d and should not threaten to do so as a negotiating tactic. He added that Congress has an oversight responsibility over ongoing military operations and over U.S. obligations under domestic law and international agreements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2041615362521956824\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepKiley\/status\/2041615362521956824\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/04\/07\/house-democrat-to-impeach-pete-hegseth-over-alleged-war-crimes-against-iran\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the <em>John Solomon Reports<\/em> podcast, \u201cI hope and pray that President Trump is just using this as bluster. I do not want to see us start blowing up civilian infrastructure\u2026 We are not at war with the Iranian people. We are trying to liberate them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/04\/07\/mtg-demands-25th-amendment-as-election-to-replace-her-begins-after-she-quit-on-constituents\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">resigned<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in January and whose former 14th District seat was being filled Tuesday in a special election, posted on X, \u201c25TH AMENDMENT!!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Republicans aired those objections, Democrats pushed for removal more openly. Andrew Solender of Axios <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/andrewsolender\/status\/2041621909280833676?s=46\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on X, \u201cPelosi brings it to 70 House Democrats calling for Trump\u2019s impeachment or removal via the 25th Amendment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Solender also shared Rep. Shri Thanedar\u2019s (D-MI) letter to Vice President JD Vance and the Cabinet urging them to invoke the 25th Amendment, which Thanedar said he <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/andrewsolender\/status\/2041600866617053588?s=46\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">planned<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to \u201ccirculate to colleagues.\u201d Thanedar <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AndrewSolender\/status\/2041617308062265744\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wrote<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that \u201cPresident Trump is a threat to our country and to the world; he must be removed from office immediately,\u201d arguing Trump\u2019s Iran remarks were \u201cnot the words of a sane person, nor one who is fit to serve as president.\u201d The letter also cited tariffs, immigration enforcement, election issues, Texas redistricting, and damage to U.S. alliances.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a9d adSo\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Solender additionally <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/andrewsolender\/status\/2041626612785893697?s=46\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shared<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX)\u2019s letter to Vice President JD Vance and the Cabinet urging invocation of Section Four of the 25th Amendment. Crockett wrote that it had become \u201cindisputably apparent\u201d that the president was \u201cderanged\u201d and \u201clikely suffering from dementia,\u201d and argued that it was \u201clong overdue\u201d for Vance, the Cabinet, and Congress to declare him unfit to discharge the powers and duties of office. She also wrote that \u201cthe country and the Constitution remain in jeopardy with each passing day Donald Trump is President of the United States.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An Axios report <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2026\/04\/07\/trump-iran-impeachment-25th-amendment-war-crimes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and other top Democrats were focusing on forcing an Iran war powers vote later this month rather than publicly leading the 25th Amendment effort, and that discussions of impeachment or a Cabinet letter \u201chave not yet reached the leadership level.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">White House spokesman Davis Ingle, according to Axios, dismissed the Democrat campaign, telling Axios, \u201cThis is pathetic. Democrats have been talking about impeaching President Trump since before he was even sworn into office.\u201d Ingle added, \u201cThe Democrats in Congress are deranged, weak, and ineffective, which is why their approval ratings are at historic lows.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That impeachment push is also being reinforced by activist groups. On Monday, Free Speech For People <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/04\/06\/democrats-plot-impeachment-of-trump-a-third-time\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">released<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a Lake Research Partners survey showing that 52 percent of likely 2026 voters support impeaching Trump, while 40 percent oppose it, after respondents were told that lawmakers had backed impeachment over alleged constitutional violations, ICE actions, and the war with Iran. The survey found that 55 percent of independents and 14 percent of Republicans support impeachment. Free Speech For People President John Bonifaz said that \u201cmore than 1 million people across the country have joined us in calling for the impeachment removal of Donald Trump from public office\u201d through the group\u2019s campaign and added that the organization has \u201cdocumented more than 25 grounds for impeachment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/middle-east\/2026\/04\/07\/republicans-break-with-trump-on-a-whole-civilization-will-die-tonight-iran-threat\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
