{"id":44444,"date":"2026-04-08T04:41:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T04:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=44444"},"modified":"2026-04-08T04:41:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T04:41:10","slug":"adrian-grenier-addresses-devil-wears-prada-2-absence-in-new-ad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=44444","title":{"rendered":"Adrian Grenier Addresses &#8216;Devil Wears Prada 2&#8217; Absence In New Ad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-adroot=\"true\">\n<p>In the past two decades since <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/p\/the-devil-wears-prada-musical-is-finally-premiering-next-year-but-theres-a-catch-18760765\" class=\"T3D\">The Devil Wears Prada<\/a><\/em> premiered in 2005, the Internet has collectively realized that Anne Hathaway\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/entertainment\/adrian-grenier-response-devil-wears-prada-villain\" class=\"T3D\">onscreen boyfriend Nate<\/a> was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/entertainment\/is-nate-the-villain-devil-wears-prada-theory-anne-hathaway-reacts\" class=\"T3D\">movie\u2019s true villain<\/a>, so much so that star Adrian Grenier isn\u2019t part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/entertainment\/meryl-streep-anne-hathaway-no-skeletal-models-devil-wears-prada-sequel\" class=\"T3D\">upcoming sequel<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>However, it seems like there\u2019s no bad blood on his end. The actor addressed his absence in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MEcjAtFJbgA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\" class=\"T3D\">new Starbucks ad<\/a>, created in partnership with the film, which hits theaters on May 1.<\/p>\n<p>In the commercial, Grenier speaks to fans directly \u2014\u00a0or so it seems.  \u201cYou might have seen the headlines. I wasn\u2019t asked to be part of a certain sequel,\u201d he tells the camera. \u201cBut I\u2019m good. Really. It\u2019s all good energy.\u201d The camera then pans to a wide shot of a Starbucks, revealing that he\u2019s talking to a very confused barista, who hands him one of the chain\u2019s new Energy Refresher drinks. <\/p>\n<p>In true Nate fashion, he makes things even weirder by addressing the entire coffee shop. \u201cSo a toast to Nate!\u201d he declares. \u201cHe made a mean sandwich. He loved his girlfriend \u2014\u00a0to a point.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"sWr iGR CEt\">\n<figure class=\"Qf5 E1M\">\n<div style=\"padding-top:66.6667%;\" class=\"vmZ F8Y ap2\"><\/div>\n<p><figcaption class=\"rv9 TrI\"><cite>YouTube \/ Starbucks<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>At that moment, Grenier had to concede that Nate is better off left in the past. \u201cOkay, he wasn\u2019t perfect,\u201d he clarified. \u201cSo let\u2019s leave Nate in 2006, and keep this good energy going.\u201d However, after the sequel\u2019s logo flashed onscreen, he had a change of heart. \u201cI mean, if they call, I\u2019m free,\u201d he says as the commercial ends.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/entertainment\/devil-wears-prada-2-cast-release-date-plot\" class=\"T3D\">The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/a> <\/em>follows Hathaway\u2019s Andy Sachs as she returns to <em>Runway<\/em> and reunites with her old boss, Meryl Streep\u2019s Miranda Priestly, who\u2019s trying to save the magazine by seeking funding from her former assistant and Andy\u2019s old colleague, Emily Blunt\u2019s iconic Emily, now the head of a major fashion label. Andy\u2019s even moved on with a new beau, played by Patrick Brammell, meaning there was simply no room for Nate. <\/p>\n<div class=\"sWr iGR CEt\">\n<figure class=\"Qf5 E1M\">\n<div style=\"padding-top:66.4251%;\" class=\"vmZ F8Y ap2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imgix.bustle.com\/uploads\/shutterstock\/2026\/4\/7\/dffbb5ce\/shutterstock-5885874y.jpg?w=414&amp;h=275&amp;fit=crop&amp;crop=faces&amp;dpr=2\" srcset=\"https:\/\/imgix.bustle.com\/uploads\/shutterstock\/2026\/4\/7\/dffbb5ce\/shutterstock-5885874y.jpg?w=414&amp;h=275&amp;fit=crop&amp;crop=faces 414w, https:\/\/imgix.bustle.com\/uploads\/shutterstock\/2026\/4\/7\/dffbb5ce\/shutterstock-5885874y.jpg?w=414&amp;h=275&amp;fit=crop&amp;crop=faces&amp;dpr=2 828w, https:\/\/imgix.bustle.com\/uploads\/shutterstock\/2026\/4\/7\/dffbb5ce\/shutterstock-5885874y.jpg?w=1100&amp;h=730&amp;fit=crop&amp;crop=faces 1100w, https:\/\/imgix.bustle.com\/uploads\/shutterstock\/2026\/4\/7\/dffbb5ce\/shutterstock-5885874y.jpg?w=1100&amp;h=730&amp;fit=crop&amp;crop=faces&amp;dpr=2 2200w\" sizes=\"(min-width:768px) 1100px, 414px\" alt=\"Anne Hathaway, Adrian Grenier\" class=\"EdX\"\/><\/div>\n<p><figcaption class=\"rv9 TrI\"><cite>Barry Wetcher\/20th Century Fox\/Kobal\/Shutterstock<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Grenier <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/adrian-grenier-admits-he-s-disappointed-by-devil-wears-prada-2-snub-still-hopes-for-nate-spinoff-exclusive-11926441\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\" class=\"T3D\">previously spoke out<\/a> about not being written into the sequel, telling <em>People <\/em>that he had recently spoken to director David Frankel and was \u201cdisappointed\u201d by the decision. <\/p>\n<p>However, he admitted that he \u201ccan understand the sentiment\u201d of Nate being a villain, which is precisely why he wants to explore him further. \u201cI have to stand [up] for my character,\u201d he said. \u201cIf Nate is actually the devil in <em>The Devil Wears Prada<\/em>, I&#8217;d like to see what his character does beyond, as a spinoff movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has an ally in Hathaway, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/CkHmMC5DZ3r\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\" class=\"T3D\">who disagreed<\/a> with the internet\u2019s opinion. \u201cHe did behave like a brat, but I also behaved like a brat in my 20s and I hopefully grew out of it,\u201d she said on <em>Watch What Happens Live <\/em>in 2022. \u201cI think that that&#8217;s what we all do.
