{"id":44718,"date":"2026-04-08T11:35:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T11:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=44718"},"modified":"2026-04-08T11:35:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T11:35:07","slug":"attorney-general-blanche-says-8000-fraud-cases-underway-doj-working-with-vances-anti-fraud-task-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=44718","title":{"rendered":"Attorney General Blanche Says 8,000 Fraud Cases Underway; DOJ Working with Vance&#8217;s Anti-Fraud Task Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced Tuesday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has \u201c8,000 fraud matters underway,\u201d and it is working with the recently launched anti-fraud task force led by Vice President JD Vance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">Blanche outlined the DOJ\u2019s efforts and its coordination with the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud at a press conference on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2041564666770362539\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RapidResponse47\/status\/2041564666770362539\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department of Justice is holding criminals accountable for stealing over half a billion dollars from taxpayers, and across our U.S. Attorney\u2019s offices all over this country, we currently have over 8,000 fraud matters underway,\u201d Blanche said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, as you\u2019ve heard a lot about recently, because it\u2019s true, these cases represent a fraction of the fraud ripping off our country every day,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">\u201cThanks to the leadership of President Trump, this department, working closely with the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, is supercharging efforts to take down every fraudster and bring them to justice,\u201d Blanche continued.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<p>Blanche also highlighted DOJ efforts this week in major fraud cases.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, just this week, and it\u2019s only Tuesday, a criminal defendant was sentenced, and the department obtained two additional guilty pleas in matters totaling over half a billion dollars in health care and COVID fraud,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you think about that, just since yesterday, we had a guilty plea in a $160 million health care enrollment fraud scheme and a sentencing in a $100 million COVID-19 fraud and a guilty plea in a $160 million health care fraud scheme as well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The anti-fraud task force has already delivered results cracking down on fraud since its establishment on March 16. Since March 25, the Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS) has suspended 221 hospice and home health providers in California over suspicions of fraud, as Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/04\/03\/vances-anti-fraud-task-force-hits-ground-running-with-collection-of-wins\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cWe expect this number to grow much, much higher in the coming weeks,\u201d said a senior Trump official.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a9d adSo\"\/>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">The DOJ has already commenced arrests and executed search warrants in connection with suspected Los Angeles hospice and healthcare fraud.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">Vance detailed steps to reinstate anti-fraud protections and pursue a whole-of-government approach to tackling fraud at the first task force roundtable late last month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">\u201cA lot of the anti-fraud protections that existed in our government for a very long time were actually turned off by the Biden administration. So we think fraud has been a problem for a long time,\u201d Vance said. \u201cIt became a massive, massive problem under the Biden administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re gonna do a number of things. First of all, we\u2019re gonna turn back on those anti-fraud protections, so that all these cabinet officials are looking at what\u2019s going on and focusing on it,\u201d he added, going on to highlight the whole-of-government approach the task force is taking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe second thing is that we\u2019re going to take a whole government approach.
