Vice President JD Vance conceded Wednesday that the two-week cease-fire<\/a>\u00a0is a \u201cfragile truce\u201d because of \u201clying\u201d Iranian leaders\u00a0\u2014 with President Trump \u201cimpatient\u201d to make a concrete deal to end the war.<\/p>\n Vance, who was speaking at an event in Hungary, insisted a deal was possible if Iran negotiated sincerely<\/a> and noted Trump had already instructed his team to engage the Iranians in \u201cgood faith.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s told us to come to the negotiating table. But if the Iranians don\u2019t do the exact same thing, they\u2019re going to find out that the president of the United States is not one to mess around,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s impatient. He\u2019s impatient to make progress.\u00a0He has\u00a0told\u00a0us to negotiate in good faith, and\u00a0I\u00a0think\u00a0if they\u00a0negotiate in good faith, we will be able to\u00a0find\u00a0a deal.\u00a0But\u00a0that\u2019s a big if, and ultimately, it\u2019s up to the Iranians how they negotiate.\u00a0I hope they make the right decision.\u201d<\/p>\n Vance cautioned\u00a0the\u00a0deal\u00a0that the\u00a0US struck with Iran<\/a> was being misrepresented within the Islamic Republic, describing it as a \u201cfragile truce.\u201d<\/p>\n
