You should pencil in several\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/college-football-bowl-projections-2026-early-predictions-every-postseason-game-cfp-bracket\/\" target=\"_blank\">scintillating playoff matchups<\/a><\/span> featuring expected first-rounders.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>CBS Sports has spent the offseason flipping on the tape, talking to various staffs and gathering intel on the game&#8217;s best this spring, handicapping each Power Four conference at the quarterback position in the form of player rankings. We&#8217;re not ignoring the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/group-of-six-qbs-college-football-playoff-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\">Group of Six arms, either<\/a><\/span>. There&#8217;s plenty within that group who could crash the CFP discussion next season, including starters UNLV, Boise State and Memphis.  <\/p>\n<p>Think of these Power Four 1-68 quarterback rankings as a fluid exercise with changes coming as more info comes in this offseason, especially once spring practice is over and depth charts are more solid. These rankings are slotted using our <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/sec-qb-rankings-2026-season-arch-manning-trinidad-chambliss\/\" target=\"_blank\">conference-by-conference power ratings<\/a><\/span>\u00a0from individual analysts, then adjusted accordingly from a national scope. Dante Moore, Oregon  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/big-ten-qb-rankings-2026-season-dante-moore-oregon\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 1 in Big Ten  <\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft early-entry deadline, <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/dante-moore-staying-oregon-2026-nfl-draft\/\" target=\"_blank\">Moore stunned most by announcing his return to the Ducks<\/a><\/span> as a projected top-5 pick. Moore finished with 3,565 yards passing and 30 touchdowns in his first full season as a college starter, helping Oregon reach the College Football Playoff semifinals. The former UCLA transfer will work with a new offensive coordinator this fall after spending the last two years with Will Stein, who&#8217;s now leading Kentucky. Julian Sayin, Ohio State  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/big-ten-qb-rankings-2026-season-dante-moore-oregon\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 2 in Big Ten  <\/p>\n<p>Sayin posted one of the most efficient seasons in college football history as a redshirt freshman with a 77.0% completion rate and 32 touchdowns en route to Heisman finalist honors. One of the national leaders with a 88.4 QBR last season, Sayin was rarely pressured prior to the Big Ten Championship Game and CFP quarterfinal, when he was sacked 10 total times by Indiana and Miami. The Buckeyes&#8217; offense will look a little different in 2026 with\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/ohio-state-arthur-smith-offensive-coordinator-steelers-falcons\/\" target=\"_blank\">new OC Arthur Smith calling the plays<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and Carnell Tate off to the NFL, but Jeremiah Smith is probably all Sayin needs.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<div class=\"TeamLogo TeamLogo--floatLeft TeamLogo--largest\">\n                            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/teams\/TEXAS\/texas-longhorns\/\" aria-label=\"home team page\"><\/p>\n<figure class=\" img\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"TeamLogo-image\" alt=\"team logo\" src=\"https:\/\/sports.cbsimg.net\/fly\/images\/team-logos\/853.svg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>                                                <\/a>\n                    <\/div>\n<h2>  3. Arch Manning, Texas  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/sec-qb-rankings-2026-season-arch-manning-trinidad-chambliss\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 1 in SEC  <\/p>\n<p>If you think this is too high, then admit it: You watched the bad Manning highlights in September, decided on your take and then never tuned in again.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>Manning was a different quarterback down the stretch last season, accounting for 19 total touchdowns over his final six starts highlighted by impressive performances (and wins) over Texas A&amp;M and Michigan. Manning recorded four 300-yard games, led multiple fourth-quarter comebacks to force overtime and settled down as a passer with more reps. Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/sec-qb-rankings-2026-season-arch-manning-trinidad-chambliss\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 2 in SEC  <\/p>\n<p>One of the SEC&#8217;s breakout stars is officially back for a sixth season of eligibility in 2026 after leading the Rebels to the CFP semifinals last fall.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>Chambliss completed 66.1% of his passes for 3,937 yards, rushed for 527 yards and scored 30 total touchdowns as a Division II transfer who earned the starting job over Austin Simmons (now at Missouri) and never looked back.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<div class=\"TeamLogo TeamLogo--floatLeft TeamLogo--largest\">\n                            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/teams\/MIAMI\/miami-fla-hurricanes\/\" aria-label=\"home team page\"><\/p>\n<figure class=\" img\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"TeamLogo-image\" alt=\"team logo\" src=\"https:\/\/sports.cbsimg.net\/fly\/images\/team-logos\/687.svg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>                                                <\/a>\n                    <\/div>\n<h2>  5. Darian Mensah, Miami  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/ranking-acc-qbs-2026-darian-mensah-miami-national-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 1 in ACC  <\/p>\n<p>The Hurricanes&#8217; 2026 answer following back-to-back jackpots with transfer quarterbacks Cam Ward and Carson Beck, Mensah starred at Duke last season and helped the Blue Devils win a conference championship after throwing for 34 touchdowns and nearly 4,000 yards. <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/darian-mensah-duke-transfer-portal-settlement-miami\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mensah reached a settlement with Duke in January<\/a><\/span> a few days after the Blue Devils filed a lawsuit following his intentions to enter the portal.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"TeamLogo TeamLogo--floatLeft TeamLogo--largest\">\n                            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/teams\/ND\/notre-dame-fighting-irish\/\" aria-label=\"home team page\"><\/p>\n<figure class=\" img\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"TeamLogo-image\" alt=\"team logo\" src=\"https:\/\/sports.cbsimg.net\/fly\/images\/team-logos\/753.svg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>                                                <\/a>\n                    <\/div>\n<h2>  6. C.J. Carr, Notre Dame  <\/h2>\n<p>Conference ranking: N\/A  <\/p>\n<p>Carr ended his redshirt freshman campaign and first year as Notre Dame&#8217;s starter on a 10-game winning streak as a prolific passer behind an elite offensive line. After losses to Miami and Texas A&amp;M to open, Carr threw 21 touchdown passes to only four interceptions during that stretch, leading several blowout victory. Gunner Stockton, Georgia  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/sec-qb-rankings-2026-season-arch-manning-trinidad-chambliss\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 3 in SEC  <\/p>\n<p>Ultra-competitive as a durable, throwback sort of signal-caller, Stockton&#8217;s play last fall led to a conference championship and top-four seed in the CFP with the Bulldogs. His 84.9 QBR was sixth-best nationally and he managed five wins as a first-year starter against ranked teams, including Texas, Georgia Tech and Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. Stockton&#8217;s 10 rushing touchdowns led the team.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"TeamLogo TeamLogo--floatLeft TeamLogo--largest\">\n                            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/teams\/LSU\/lsu-tigers\/\" aria-label=\"home team page\"><\/p>\n<figure class=\" img\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"TeamLogo-image\" alt=\"team logo\" src=\"https:\/\/sports.cbsimg.net\/fly\/images\/team-logos\/669.svg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>                                                <\/a>\n                    <\/div>\n<h2>  8. Sam Leavitt, LSU  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/sec-qb-rankings-2026-season-arch-manning-trinidad-chambliss\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 4 in SEC  <\/p>\n<p>Strong-armed and athletic, <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/sam-leavitt-qb-lsu-lane-kiffin-college-football-transfer-portal\/\" target=\"_blank\">Leavitt was the top passer in the portal this cycle<\/a><\/span> and Lane Kiffin worked overtime to land him. Leavitt led Arizona State to a Big 12 title and the school&#8217;s first CFP trip as a redshirt freshman in 2024 before injuries cut his sophomore campaign in half last fall.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>At his best, Leavitt stars when the pocket breaks down and he freelances a bit. Jayden Maiava, USC  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/big-ten-qb-rankings-2026-season-dante-moore-oregon\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 3 in Big Ten  <\/p>\n<p>With a 12-5 record as USC&#8217;s starter the last 1.5 seasons, Maiva&#8217;s heroics last fall came largely due to a pair of potential first-round NFL Draft picks on the outside with Makai Lemon and Ja&#8217;Kobi Lane at wideout. <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/jayden-maiava-usc-trojans-lincoln-riley-2026-season-transfer-portal\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maiva&#8217;s return for Lincoln Riley&#8217;s fifth season at USC<\/a><\/span> resulted in five-star freshman Husan Longstreet&#8217;s departure to the portal, but there&#8217;s little worry at the position. The Trojans\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/season\/2026-football\/overallteamrankings\/\" target=\"_blank\">just finished with the No. 1 overall recruiting class<\/a>\u00a0in the 2026 cycle and have their best roster under Riley, punctuated by a star quarterback at the top.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"TeamLogo TeamLogo--floatLeft TeamLogo--largest\">\n                            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/teams\/IND\/indiana-hoosiers\/\" aria-label=\"home team page\"><\/p>\n<figure class=\" img\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"TeamLogo-image\" alt=\"team logo\" src=\"https:\/\/sports.cbsimg.net\/fly\/images\/team-logos\/629.svg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>                                                <\/a>\n                    <\/div>\n<h2>  10. Josh Hoover, Indiana  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/big-ten-qb-rankings-2026-season-dante-moore-oregon\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 4 in Big Ten  <\/p>\n<p>Hoover has <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/josh-hoover-indiana-fernando-mendoza-tcu-cfp-national-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\">big shoes to fill for the defending national champions<\/a><\/span>, following in the steps of Fernando Mendoza after a perfect record. A multi-year starter for Sonny Dykes at TCU, Hoover has ample game experience with 71 career touchdown passes and nearly 10,000 yards through the air. Noah Fifita, Arizona  <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/big-12-qb-rankings-2026-noah-fifita-brendan-sorsby-drew-mestemaker\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conference ranking<\/a><\/span>: No. 1 in Big 12  <\/p>\n<p>A bit of a surprising selection as the Big 12&#8217;s top quarterback this spring, Fifita throws guided missiles toward the secondary and routinely hits his targets. <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/big-12-qb-rankings-2026-noah-fifita-brendan-sorsby-drew-mestemaker\/\" target=\"_blank\">Colleague Shehan Jeyarajah notes<\/a><\/span>, &#8220;the rising senior returned to form during a tremendous 2025 season, throwing for 29 touchdowns and 3,228 yards after Brent Brennan hired Air Raid offensive coordinator Seth Doege.&#8221; We&#8217;re expecting a similar campaign from the gifted passer in 2026.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"TeamLogo TeamLogo--floatLeft TeamLogo--largest\">\n                            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/teams\/AUBURN\/auburn-tigers\/\" aria-label=\"home team page\"><\/p>\n<figure class=\" img\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"TeamLogo-image\" alt=\"team logo\" src=\"https:\/\/sports.cbsimg.net\/fly\/images\/team-logos\/477.svg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>                                                <\/a>\n                    <\/div>\n<h2>  12. Auburn first-year coach Alex Golesh thinks so. His prized transfer from his former program at South Florida eclipsed 4,000 yards of total offense last season with an American-best 42 total touchdowns. He finished with 2,885 yards passing, 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 12 games with a 62.2% completion rate. Jennings tried developing into more a pass-first threat last season, moving away from scrambling to try and fit throws into tighter windows. Underwood is still raw as a passer, but appeared to grow in his confidence level as last season progressed. Weigman&#8217;s 700 yards rushing and 11 scores more than tripled his previous career production as a runner. Without much of a rushing presence, Washington attempted 473 passes and finished with a completion rate of 57.7%. He was only sacked eight times over more than 500 dropbacks, part of that due to his escapability. Despite those numbers, there&#8217;s not much to show for it with a 15-10 record, including last fall&#8217;s 6-6 finish that led to <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/kansas-state-chris-klieman-retire-with-texas-a-m-collin-klein\/\" target=\"_blank\">coach Chris Klieman&#8217;s retirement<\/a><\/span>. The dual-threat underwent a minor ankle procedure in January and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/5a0dJW-PXxo\" target=\"_blank\">expected to be ready for workouts this spring<\/a>. Taylor is 6-4, 230 pounds and rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns during the Egg Bowl last season, the first start of his career.
