The revenue from nonresident fees is intended to be reinvested into the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/17\/us-news\/apostle-islands-ice-caves-at-lake-superior-reopen-for-the-first-time-since-2015\/\">National Park Service<\/a> and the parks plan is eye-popping.<\/p>\n<p>Barcelona, for instance, has doubled its tourist tax, which tops out at only $18 per night, with revenue aimed at affordable housing, according to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/barcelona-doubles-tourism-tax-one-highest-europe-fund-housing-2026-02-25\/#:~:text=Subscribe-,Barcelona%20doubles%20tourism%20tax%20to%20one%20of%20highest%20in%20Europe,euros%20per%20night%20per%20person.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Other tweaks to the park calendar came with the order.<\/p>\n<p>Two previously free days, Juneteenth and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/17\/opinion\/activist-educators-are-hijacking-mlk-day-with-palestine-teach-in\/\">Martin Luther King Jr. Day<\/a>, were removed, while four new-fee-free dates were added, including Flag Day, coincidentally Trump\u2019s own birthday.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone, international visitors will now pay a premium to experience
