Pok\u00e9mon<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is on an absolute tear this year. It’s going to break the TCG market once the 30th Anniversary set comes out, and Pok\u00e9mon Champions<\/em> is finally here, giving us a taste of what to expect from the competitive scene in 2026.<\/p>\n

But over on X<\/a>, fans aren’t so sure about a recent update. Some are even getting increasingly concerned about what Winds & Waves<\/em> will have in store for us<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kicked off by a post from Centro Leaks, fans are concerned about the future framerates of Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> games, starting with Champions<\/em>: “Pok\u00e9mon Champions runs at 30 FPS even on Switch 2. Considering the Pok\u00e9mon Winds and Waves trailer was also 30 FPS… RIP Pok\u00e9mon 60 FPS era 2025-2025, it was fun while it lasted.”<\/em><\/p>\n

“2025” refers to the release of Pok\u00e9mon Legends: Z-A<\/em>, which saw an enhanced 60 FPS framerate on Switch 2 (and 30 FPS on Switch 1). Fans were hoping that, since Pok\u00e9mon Champions<\/em> technically already has a Switch 2 update<\/span>, it would be up to par. But so far, it seems to be set to 30 FPS.<\/p>\n

Some fans have theories as to why: “Champions does NOT appear to be using DLSS (just look at the aliasing on Blastoise). And it is very aliased in motion not indicating anything temporal AA wise. Sooo it being 30fps is probably them just bruteforcing a higher res rather than keeping it lower for 60.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Select fans are just disappointed: “There’s a patch for the Switch 1 version on Switch 2 but hopefully it gets a Switch 2 version. 30 fps for a battle simulator is crazy.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Other fans are content to just roll with it: “Meh. I don\u2019t see any difference between 30 fps and 60 fps. I enjoy playing games regardless of FPS.”<\/em> After all, Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> is not known for its performance, especially in recent generations.<\/p>\n

A select few are holding out hope that Winds <\/em>and Waves<\/em> will be 60 FPS: “Highly doubt they\u2019d make winds and waves 30fps, considering how mostly everything else on the switch 2 so far (thats exclusive) has been above that this is probably just a separate thing, but it is very annoying.\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b”<\/em><\/p>\n

As per usual, folks are already clamoring for another technical update for Pok\u00e9mon Champions<\/em>. While it may not happen anytime soon, they’re mostly worried about what the future Generations of Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> hold.<\/p>\n

We’ve just reached the point where, on Switch 2, we can get better performance for Scarlet & Violet<\/em> and Z-A<\/em>. It would be a shame for Pok\u00e9mon<\/em><\/strong> to backtrack now.<\/p>\n
