The move came after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/health\/2025\/12\/18\/trump-administration-to-ban-hospitals-from-performing-sex-change-procedures-on-children\/\">announced<\/a>\u00a0a proposed regulatory action in December that would bar hospitals from providing mutilating sex-rejecting drugs and surgeries to minors as a condition of participating in Medicare and Medicaid.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2001690140985684364\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RapidResponse47\/status\/2001690140985684364\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hospital officials said they are resuming the \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gender Health Program\u201d after a federal court ruling vacated the HHS\u2019s declaration, CBS News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/minnesota\/news\/childrens-minnesota-resumes-gender-affirming-care\/\">reported<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOffering science- and research-based health care to transgender and gender diverse youth is part of Children\u2019s Minnesota\u2019s vision of being every family\u2019s essential partner in raising healthier children,\u201d Children\u2019s Minnesota said in a statement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hospital also said it will be contacting patients\u2019 families that were impacted by the pause.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When initially announcing the pause, Children\u2019s Minnesota said its \u201cGender Health\u201d remained open to \u201ccontinue to provide supportive care, mental health services and guidance regarding medical and non-medical treatment options.\u201d The hospital called the pause a \u201cdifficult decision\u201d and claimed that \u201cgender affirming care\u201d is \u201cevidence-based and lifesaving for transgender and gender diverse youth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>HHS said in its December announcement that \u201csex-rejecting procedures on children,\u201d such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries, \u201cexpose them to irreversible damage, including infertility, impaired sexual function, diminished bone density, altered brain development, and other irreversible physiological effects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/02\/03\/detransitioner-chloe-cole-2m-malpractice-ruling-not-nearly-enough-undo-damage-generation-young-people\/\"><em><strong>RELATED:\u00a0Detransitioner Chloe Cole: $2M Malpractice Ruling \u2018Not Nearly Enough\u2019 to Undo Damage to a Generation of Young People<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said at the time that \u201cdoctors assume a solemn obligation to protect children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">\u201cDoctors across the country now provide needless and irreversible sex-rejecting procedures that violate their sacred Hippocratic oath, endangering the very lives that they are sworn to safeguard,\u201d he said during the announcement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a9d adSo\"\/>\n<p>\u201cThe American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, peddled a lie that chemical and surgical sex-rejecting procedures could be good for children who suffer from gender dysphoria,\u201d he added, further accusing them of betraying \u201cthe estimated 300,000 American youth ages 13 to 17 conditioned to believe that sex can be changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/02\/03\/first-major-medical-group-opposes-sex-mutilating-surgeries-minors\/\"><em><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0First Major Medical Group Opposes Sex Mutilating Surgeries for Minors<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>HHS has initiated investigations into hospitals across the country for allegedly providing sex-change drugs, and sometimes surgeries, to minors.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2011946547005833419\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HHSGCMikeStuart\/status\/2011946547005833419\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In January, HHS General Counsel Mike Stuart\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/19thnews.org\/2026\/01\/gender-affirming-care-youth-hospitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">referred<\/a>\u00a0Children\u2019s Minnesota and several other hospitals for federal investigation. Children\u2019s Minnesota says on its website that it does not perform sex-change surgeries on minors.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration\u2019s crackdown on hospitals providing mutilating sex-change drugs and surgeries to minors is a stark departure from the Biden administration, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/31\/biden-administration-promotes-transgender-sex-change-surgery-puberty-blockers-for-minors\/\">aggressively pushed<\/a>\u00a0sex changes for confused youth and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/06\/01\/biden-administration-forces-k-12-gender-ideology-compliance-with-lunch-money-threat\/\">used all levers<\/a>\u00a0of government to force broad compliance.<\/p>\n<p><em><i>Katherine Hamilton is a political reporter for Breitbart News.
