{"id":45341,"date":"2026-04-09T03:15:51","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T03:15:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=45341"},"modified":"2026-04-09T03:15:51","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T03:15:51","slug":"jasveen-sangha-ketamine-queen-drug-dealer-sentenced-to-15-years-in-prison-in-connection-with-matthew-perrys-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=45341","title":{"rendered":"Jasveen Sangha, &#8216;Ketamine Queen,&#8217; Drug Dealer Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison in Connection with Matthew Perry\u2019s Death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">April 8 (UPI) \u2014 Jasveen Sangha of Los Angeles, called the \u201cKetamine Queen\u201d by prosecutors, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday in connection with the 2023 overdose death of Friends actor Matthew Perry.<\/p>\n<p>Sangha pleaded guilty last year to federal charges related to the case, including several counts of distribution of ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said Perry\u2019s assistant bought 50 vials of ketamine, a quick-acting anesthetic that can also be misused as a hallucinogenic, and one of those vials of ketamine caused Perry\u2019s accidental death, The New York Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>Perry, who played Chandler Bing in the sitcom Friends, died Oct. 28, 2023, at age 54 after struggling with alcohol and drug addiction for years. He was found dead in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles; an autopsy showed his death was caused by \u201cthe acute effects of ketamine\u201d with contributing factors of drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine, an opoid.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"BREAKING: &#039;Ketamine Queen&#039; Jasveen Sangha sentenced in Matthew Perry death\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qolfFLiix4s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His death touched off an investigation that resulted in the arrest of Sangha and four codefendants in the case, including Erik Fleming, an acquaintance of Perry\u2019s; Matthew Iwamasa, Perry\u2019s assistant who bought the ketamine on Perry\u2019s behalf; Dr. Salvador Plasencia; and Dr. Mark Chavez. All pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">Sangha was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Garnett at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Plasencia and Chavez were sentenced earlier; Fleming and Iwamasa have yet to be sentenced.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p>Perry\u2019s mother Suzanne Perry and stepfather Keith Morrison were present at the court hearing. The Times reported that Morrison spoke at the hearing, telling Sangha, \u201cI feel bad for you. I don\u2019t hate you. You are a drug dealer, and there are a lot of drug dealers out there. The fact is you supplied an addict.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>USA Today reported that prosecutors also filed a victim impact statement on behalf of Perry\u2019s stepmother, Debbie Perry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pain you\u2019ve caused to hundreds, maybe thousands, is irreversible,\u201d Perry wrote. \u201cThere is no joy to be found, no light in the window.
