death of his infant son after allegedly leaving the sleeping tot under a weighted blanket for hours \u2013 later telling cops he wished he had checked on him sooner.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Omni Maxx Morningstar, 26, was arrested Monday after his 10-month-old son, Remington, suffocated while he was in another room yapping with friends online inside their Mankato home last October, according<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mankatomn.gov\/Home\/Components\/News\/News\/10767\/107\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> to Mankato police<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/mankato-man-faces-charges-after-baby-dies-under-weighted-blanket\/601662503\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">court documents obtained by the Minnesota Star Tribune.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Police said the brainless dad put the baby down for a nap and didn\u2019t check on him for nearly five hours.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image Dept.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Morningstar allegedly told cops he was wearing headphones in a separate bedroom and chatting away on Discord while his son\u2019s temperature rose to a staggering 104.7 degrees before he died, court papers said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thinking in my head, like five hours, huh,\u201d he told cops of the fatal incident.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI really do wish I would have checked on him.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Baby Remington suffocated under a weighted blanket while his father was allegedly in another room yapping with friends on Discord. <span class=\"credit\">Legacy.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Morningstar said he put his son down for a nap at 11 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2025 and alerted police after finding him unresponsive and overheated under the weighted blanket around 3:55 p.m., the complaint said.<\/p>\n<p>First responders attempted life-saving efforts, but the child was ruled died at a local hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The careless father allegedly told authorities the infant had a history of fevers and colic that led to multiple hospital visits, explaining he started using the heavy bedding months earlier to keep the boy from crying and moving his legs.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Police said the brainless dad put the baby down for a nap and weighing just under 20 pounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The child\u2019s devastated mother reported her husband had previously left their child alone, fully covered with a king-sized blanket, about a month earlier \u2013 after admitting he had forgotten about the baby while playing video games, according to the complaint, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>He is being held in the Blue Earth County Jail and is due back in court on April 16. <span class=\"credit\">Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A medical examiner determined the boy likely died from asphyxia caused by compression from the weighted blanket, the outlet
