{"id":45443,"date":"2026-04-09T05:40:59","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T05:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=45443"},"modified":"2026-04-09T05:40:59","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T05:40:59","slug":"olivia-munn-says-male-co-star-refused-to-film-scene-being-saved-by-woman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=45443","title":{"rendered":"Olivia Munn says male co-star refused to film scene being saved by woman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F04%2Folivia-munn-says-male-co-125282236.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Olivia Munn revealed that one of her former male co-stars brought production to a standstill when he refused to let her character save his during a scene.<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AWemBThqhgc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cThe Drew Barrymore Show\u201d<\/a> on Wednesday, Munn recalled filming a bunker fight sequence for a film, which she did not name, where both characters were defending their positions before switching sides. <\/p>\n<p>Munn, who has starred in action films such as \u201cX-Men: Apocalypse\u201d and \u201cThe Predator,\u201d said that the script called for her unnamed co-star to be nearly shot from behind \u2014 until her character stepped in.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Olivia Munn told Drew Barrymore that a male co-star once halted production because he refused to let her character save his. <span class=\"credit\">The Drew Barrymore Show<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIf you read the script, it was that he was guarding his side, I was guarding my side, then we switch sides and then there\u2019s a guy that was coming for him [who] was gonna shoot him in the back, so I shoot him,\u201d Munn said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then we\u2019re about to shoot and, somehow, I guess he didn\u2019t read the script, and in that moment, he realized, \u2018Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. She can\u2019t save me. No, no. We\u2019re not doing this.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The alleged standoff dragged on for nearly an hour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinally, after like 45 minutes of just stopping down, I said, \u2018OK, how about instead of my character saving you, it\u2019s just that we switch because it\u2019s time for us to switch and so this is my guy to get,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cAnd he was like, \u2018OK.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe title=\"Olivia Munn Gets Candid About Aggressive Breast Cancer and How it Inspired Her to Let Down Her Guard\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AWemBThqhgc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>But according to Munn, the compromise didn\u2019t actually change anything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow here\u2019s the interesting thing,\u201d she said. \u201cNothing changed. It\u2019s just what he thought. I was doing the exact same thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cNewsroom\u201d alum has previously opened up about other difficult experiences on set.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Munn starring as a police officer in \u201cRide Along 2\u201d (2016). <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9Universal\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During an appearance on Dax Shepard\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=G20f96IQxhc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast<\/a>, she claimed a director she worked with on \u201cThe Newsroom\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/07\/03\/entertainment\/olivia-munn-reveals-newsroom-director-tried-to-ruin-her-career-after-on-set-clash\/\">tried to sabotage her chances at landing a movie role<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was on the one-yard-line for the movie and my manager calls me and says, \u2018Hey, you\u2019re gonna get the role. But first, I guess there\u2019s another director who they know and he says that on \u201cThe Newsroom\u201d you were late all the time and really combative,\u2019\u201d Munn said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI lived seven minutes from there. I was never late. I was like, \u2018I know who this is.\u2019 He just was trying to bash me.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Munn claimed a director on \u201cThe Newsroom\u201d lied that she was \u201ccombative\u201d and difficult to work with. <span class=\"credit\">HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She said she pushed back through her representatives and ultimately still got the role, but didn\u2019t forget the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will always remember that just because of our conflicts of how we approached a role, he wanted to ruin my chances of getting anything else,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Munn also claimed she lost out on a role on \u201c30 Rock\u201d because <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/06\/entertainment\/olivia-munn-says-alec-baldwin-got-her-fired-from-30-rock\/\">Alec Baldwin thought she looked too young to play his love interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Elizabeth Banks and Alec Baldwin on \u201c30 Rock\u201d \u2014 after Baldwin allegedly said Munn was too young to play his partner. <span class=\"credit\">\u00a9NBC\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/olivia-munn-interview-30-rock-your-friends-and-neighbors-1236555303\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Hollywood Reporter<\/a> she had initially been told she landed the role, only to have it pulled days later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother two days later, \u2018No, no, no. They think you\u2019re perfect. You\u2019re going to fly out on Saturday.\u2019 Friday, \u2018No, no, no. Alec thinks that you look too young and he\u2019s putting his foot down,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The role ultimately went to Elizabeth Banks.
