{"id":45455,"date":"2026-04-09T06:09:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T06:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=45455"},"modified":"2026-04-09T06:09:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T06:09:00","slug":"scandal-plagued-noma-restaurant-to-quietly-open-la-shop-hawking-150-balsamic-vinegar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=45455","title":{"rendered":"Scandal-plagued Noma restaurant to quietly open LA shop hawking $150 balsamic vinegar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Weeks after <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/07\/lifestyle\/celebrity-chef-behind-las-exclusive-1500-per-person-pop-up-punched-pushed-and-terrorized-staff-at-his-michelin-starred-restaurant-it-felt-like-going-to-war\/\">Noma\u2019s world-famous chef<\/a> Ren\u00e9 Redzepi announced he was \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/11\/us-news\/noma-founder-rene-redzepi-quits-restaurant-in-face-of-abuse-scandal\/\">stepping away\u201d from the restaurant<\/a> amid a series of scandals, an LA shop selling their pricey goods will open up.<\/p>\n<p>Northwest of downtown LA in Silverlake, the first ever-US based Noma Projects store plans to set up shop where it will sell fancy sauces and vinegars for <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/11\/us-news\/the-emotional-video-as-michelin-star-chef-quits-heres-what-he-said\/\">eye-popping prices<\/a>. The shop is just down the way from where the Michelin-starred Copenhangen pop-up restaurant is operating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOpening April 9, the shop extends the work of our Test Kitchen and Fermentation Lab \u2014 bringing our staple flavors from Copenhagen alongside new ones developed for our limited time in Los Angeles,\u201d a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DW4L876FCEl\/?img_index=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the shop\u2019s Instagram<\/a> read.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The first ever-US based Noma Projects store plans to set up shop where it will sell fancy sauces and vinegars for eye-popping prices. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/@nomaprojects<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBuilt as a place to explore and taste what we\u2019ve been working on, it\u2019s a way to bring the flavors of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/nomacph\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@nomacph<\/a> into your own kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the shocking things that stood out on the <a href=\"https:\/\/nomaprojects.com\/collections?\">shop\u2019s website<\/a>, included a 3.38 oz bottle of their Barrel aged wild rose balsamic vinegar for $150.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cNoma\u2019s limited, luxurious ode to Italian balsamic,\u201d a description of the product read. \u201cAged in Emilia-Romagna casks and made with wild Danish roses.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Ren\u00e9 Redzepi stepped away from Noma after a scandal broke about the treatment of his employees. <span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A person can also purchase a monthly Noma Kaffe subscription for $70.<\/p>\n<p>The monthly subscription is described as a chance to \u201cJoin the Noma Kaffe team as we build lasting relationships with coffee farmers across the globe. Each month, you\u2019ll receive two 250g bags, curated by our roasting team in close collaboration with our producer partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other Copenhagen goods one can get their hands on includes an 8.4 oz bottle of Mushroom Garum cooking sauce for $25 or what\u2019s described as a nutty Pumpkin Seed praline spread for $37 for a 5.92 oz container of the stuff.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rene Redzepi sampling kangaroo meat. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There\u2019s also various merchandise that people can score, including books, a Noma Projects baseball cap for $42 or David Shirley Tote bag for $26, which consists of a tote that has a sketch of a tongue licking a frog on it.<\/p>\n<p>The limited pop-up shop in Sunset Row will be open Thursday through Friday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sat-Sun from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., starting this week. It will run from April 9 to June 26, when Noma\u2019s LA residency comes to an end, per the company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/noma.dk\/la\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, protestors gathered outside the shop to protest it\u2019s opening, <a href=\"http:\/\/laeater.com\">LAEater.com<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Aerial view of a sprawling terracotta-roofed estate with a large swimming pool, surrounded by trees, where the Noma pop-up was held in LA. <span class=\"credit\">CA Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It came following the bombshell report over allegations of long hours, unpaid labor, harassment, and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/12\/lifestyle\/chef-dishes-on-why-his-pop-up-restaurant-will-cost-1500-a-person\/\">abusive kitchen culture at Noma<\/a> against the chef.<\/p>\n<p>Former staffers came forward with harrowing accounts of \u201cpsychological warfare,\u201d claiming Redzepi\u2019s kitchen was less of a culinary lab and more of a torture chamber.<\/p>\n<p>The last post Redezpi made on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DVw9LxfCFTG\/\">social media account<\/a> was on March 11. And I really, really, really, really hope with every fiber of my body that you\u2019ll fight for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his written statement, the chef said that \u201cthe Noma team today is the strongest and most inspiring it has ever been.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He concluded that \u201cNoma has always been bigger than one person.
