{"id":46627,"date":"2026-04-10T11:28:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=46627"},"modified":"2026-04-10T11:28:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:28:17","slug":"trump-blasts-dishonorable-iran-over-its-handling-of-strait-of-hormuz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=46627","title":{"rendered":"Trump blasts &#8216;dishonorable&#8217; Iran over its handling of Strait of Hormuz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President Trump lashed out at <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/07\/world-news\/trump-announces-two-week-double-sided-ceasefire-hours-before-iran-deadline-hints-that-deal-is-close-to-finalized\/\">Iran\u2019s handling of the Strait of Hormuz<\/a> since the two-week cease-fire came into force \u2013 claiming \u201cThat is not the agreement we have!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIran is doing a very poor job, dishonorable some would say, of allowing oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/116377109535639790\">wrote on Truth Social<\/a> Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The vital waterway, through which 20% of the world\u2019s oil passes daily, has effectively been closed since the US and Israel launched their first attacks on Iran as part of \u201cOperation Epic Fury\u201d on Feb. 28.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Vessels passing through Strait of Hormuz following the two-week temporary ceasefire. <span class=\"credit\">Anadolu via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Only nine ships passed through the Strait over the last 24 hours, according to data from <a href=\"https:\/\/hormuzstraitmonitor.com\/\">the Hormuz Strait Monitor<\/a> \u2013 way down on the daily average of 60 vessels.<\/p>\n<p>Just three oil tankers, all under US sanctions, have passed through since the two-week provisional cease-fire on Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/strait-of-hormuz-lower-traffic-despite-iran-war-ceasefire\/\">NBC News reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>One of the tankers was hauling one million barrels of oil, another hadn\u2019t been loaded, and no data was provided for the third tanker.<\/p>\n<p>Tehran agreed to reopen the Strait under the 10-point ceasefire plan, which Washington described as \u201cworkable,\u201d but Iranian officials have claimed they plan to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/08\/us-news\/iran-blocks-oil-tankers-in-strait-of-hormuz-blaming-israel-strikes-in-lebanon\/\">charge vessels $2 million to pass through<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/04\/10\/world\/middleeast\/strait-hormuz-iran-ships-oil.html\">New York Times reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They said the money would be used to rebuild infrastructure damaged by the US and Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Trump warned Iran to stop charging vessels if it is doing so.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Trump blasted Iran\u2019s handling of the Strait.  <span class=\"credit\">Anadolu via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait \u2014 They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now!\u201d he snapped.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s blistering rebuke came after he didn\u2019t rule out a US-Iran toll collection joint venture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thinking of doing it as a joint venture,\u201d Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jonkarl\/status\/2041839012097229086\">told ABC reporter Jonathan Karl<\/a> when probed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a way of securing it \u2014 also securing it from lots of other people.
