linked to the brutal regime in Tehran after they were targeted for removal this month by a State Department of State and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) crackdown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">Over the weekend, the <em>California Post<\/em> and the <em>New York<\/em> <em>Post<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/11\/us-news\/families-of-irans-elite-rounded-up-by-ice-as-lavish-u-s-lives-end\/\">published<\/a> a roundup of those detained and headed for deportation, the lion\u2019s share of the crackdown centered in Los Angeles, which has a large Persian community.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2043136631431975387\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypost\/status\/2043136631431975387\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Among the most prominent is the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, the woman known as \u201cScreaming Mary.\u201d She was the Islamic revolution\u2019s spokesperson for militants involved in the 1979 takeover of the U.S. embassy in Tehran, where 66 Americans were taken hostage.<\/p>\n<p>The event marked the beginning of the U.S.\u2019s 47-year conflict with Iran\u2019s theocratic regime.<\/p>\n<p>Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained Ebtekar\u2019s son, Seyed Eissa Hashemi, along with his wife and child this week after the <em>Post<\/em> reported they were living in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">Hashemi had been reporting missing by family members until authorities confirmed he had been taken into custody.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<p>A week earlier, the niece of slain general Qasem Soleimani and her daughter were also arrested in Los Angeles by immigration authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, 47, and her daughter, Sarinasadat Hosseiny, 25, had their green cards revoked on April 3.<\/p>\n<p>News reports featured social media photos the two women posted of their lavish lifestyle, designer clothing, and revealing swimwear that would have landed them in deep trouble if they were living in Tehran.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2040776543400550679\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypost\/status\/2040776543400550679\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Afshar supported the Iranian regime in public posts, where she was also critical of the United States, reportedly calling it the \u201cGreat Satan,\u201d according to a report also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/middle-east\/2026\/04\/05\/feds-arrest-niece-and-grand-niece-of-notorious-iranian-general-the-pair-living-designer-lifestyles-in-la\/\">carried<\/a> by Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>Both mother and daughter came to the U.S. on legitimate visas and were then granted asylum status and green cards, though the mother made four trips back to Iran, with DHS alleging \u201cher trips to Iran illustrate her asylum claims were fraudulent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">In 2020, near the end of his first term, President Donald Trump ordered a fatal drone strike on Soleimani near the Bagdad airport, saying \u201cthe father of the roadside bomb\u201d was planning more attacks on U.S. soldiers and diplomats there.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a9d adSo\"\/>\n<p>In a separate case in Atlanta, Dr. Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, a faculty member at Emory University\u2019s Winship Cancer Institute, and her husband, Seyed Kalantar Motamedi, were also removed from the country following a petition and local protests.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2015596750002684196\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/middle-east\/2026\/04\/05\/physician-daughter-of-brutal-iranian-official-killed-in-airstrike-booted-from-the-u-s\/\">reported<\/a> earlier this month, Ardeshir is the daughter of notorious Iranian security official Ali Larijani, a confidant of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike with many other top members of the regime as they met the morning of February 28.<\/p>\n<p>In January, well before the military strikes of Operation Epic Fury, the U.S. Treasury Department levied sanctions against Ali Larijani for being \u201cone of the first Iranian leaders to call for violence in response to the legitimate demands of the Iranian people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ali Larijani was briefly seen as the de facto leader of Iran as Operation Epic Fury unfolded.<\/p>\n<p>His tenure did not last long.
