\u201cpiracy\u201d following President Trump\u2019s vow to block the Strait of Hormuz \u2014 as the regime taunted that the looming blockade would soon make Americans \u201cnostalgic\u201d for $4 gas.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s armed forces\u00a0claimed Trump\u2019s threat to block Iranian ports and restrict vessels in international waters from 10 a.m. ET was illegal and the Islamic Republic would decisively implement a \u201cpermanent mechanism\u201d to control the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/02\/world-news\/only-a-handful-of-ships-are-trickling-through-the-strait-of-hormuz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">critical oil chokepoint<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe criminal actions of America in restricting maritime transit in international waters are illegal and constitute piracy,\u201d an\u00a0Iranian Armed Forces spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button class=\"button button--modal-trigger\" aria-label=\"Open the image in a modal.\" the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman will remain safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The threats came as Iran\u2019s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, sneered that Americans would feel the pinch at the gas pump following the ultimatum to block the waterway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnjoy the current pump
