The late James Q. Wilson\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0in 2002: \u201cThe right and best way for a culture to restore itself is for it to be rebuilt, not from the top down by government policies, but from the bottom up by personal decisions. On the side of that effort, we can find churches \u2014 or at least many of them \u2014 and the common experience of adults that the essence of marriage is not sex, or money, or even children: it is commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n Now, nearly a quarter-century later, new evidence shows that young adults, tired of digital isolation and cultural cynicism, and desiring authentic faith and community, are flocking back to churches.<\/p>\n A few weeks ago, The\u00a0New York Times\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0on the wave of people, many of them young adults, returning to the Catholic Church, despite decades-long cultural attacks on that institution. \u201cIn our age of uncertainty, and in our age of great anxiety, is a thirst and hunger for God and stability that faith brings to people\u2019s lives,\u201d said Archbishop Mitchell Thomas Rozanski of St. Louis.<\/p>\n In addition, the overall percentage of Gen Z identifying as Christians reportedly\u00a0increased<\/a>\u00a0from about 45 percent in 2023 to 51 percent in 2025.<\/p>\n As Rozanski noted, these young adults are thirsty and hungry for God and the stability that faith brings in a world of increasing chaos.<\/p>\n
