{"id":49595,"date":"2026-04-13T14:45:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T14:45:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=49595"},"modified":"2026-04-13T14:45:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T14:45:07","slug":"euphoria-season-3-premiere-pays-tribute-to-eric-dane-after-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=49595","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Euphoria&#8217; Season 3 premiere pays tribute to Eric Dane after death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/12\/entertainment\/euphoria-actor-breaks-down-zendayas-heart-pounding-apple-scene-in-season-3-premiere\/\">\u201cEuphoria\u201d Season 3 premiere<\/a> included a title card that honored Eric Dane after his tragic death.<\/p>\n<p>Before the episode premiered on Sunday, a photo of Dane popped up on the screen with the message, \u201cIn remembrance of Eric Dane. 1972-2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The show also included \u201cin memoriam\u201d tribute cards to Dane, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/04\/12\/entertainment\/fezs-fate-in-euphoria-season-3-revealed-after-angus-clouds-tragic-death\/\">late co-star Angus Cloud<\/a> and late producer Kevin Turen at the end of the episode.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The \u201cEuphoria\u201d Season 3 premiere included a title card (seen above) to honor Eric Dane after his death. <span class=\"credit\">HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The premiere also aired \u201cin memoriam\u201d tribute cards to Dane, late co-star Angus Cloud and late producer Kevin Turen. <span class=\"credit\">HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Cloud, who played Fez, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/09\/21\/euphoria-star-angus-clouds-cause-of-death-revealed\/\">tragically overdosed in 2023<\/a>\u00a0at age 25, while Turen died in November 2023 at age 44 from a cardiac emergency while driving.<\/p>\n<p>Dane returned to his role as Nate Jacobs\u2019 (Jacob Elordi) father, Cal Jacobs, in the hit HBO series before\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/19\/celebrity-news\/eric-dane-dead-at-53-after-als-battle\/\">he died on February 19 at age 53<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He filmed scenes for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/12\/entertainment\/sydney-sweeney-missing-from-euphoria-cast-photo-in-wake-of-zendaya-feud-speculation\/\">Season 3<\/a>\u00a0while he was battling Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis\u00a0(ALS).<\/p>\n<p>The late actor did not appear in Sunday\u2019s premiere.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Dane (seen above in \u201cEuphoria\u201d with Jacob Elordi) died on February 19 at age 53. <span class=\"credit\">HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Dane (seen above in \u201cEuphoria\u201d) was battling ALS but still filmed scenes for Season 3. <span class=\"credit\">HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DW2mY9Uj0gE\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">During a recent interview with \u201cExtra,\u201d<\/a> creator Sam Levinson explained that he and Dane had a deep conversation about the actor\u2019s ALS diagnosis before they shot Season 3.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI loved him very deeply, and I said, \u2018Eric, whatever shape you show up in, we\u2019re gonna make it work. I have faith that it\u2019s all gonna work,&#8217;\u201d Levinson recalled.<\/p>\n<p>When Dane showed up to set, Levinson noticed that <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/27\/entertainment\/how-greys-anatomy-paid-tribute-to-eric-dane-1-week-after-mcsteamy-actors-death\/\">the \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d alum <\/a>\u201chad a slight slur in his voice.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Dane (pictured above in the Netflix special \u201cFamous Last Words\u201d) revealed his ALS diagnosis in April 2025. <span class=\"credit\">Netflix<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d alum (seen above in West Hollywood in November 2025) was left wheelchair-bound before his death. <span class=\"credit\">Roger \/ PGP \/ BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018Don\u2019t worry. We\u2019ll just put, like, five beer bottles in front of you and you\u2019ve been drinking all night,&#8217;\u201d Levinson said. \u201cHe was like, \u2018Perfect, perfect.\u2019 And his character, it was such a gift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the Season 3 trailer, Dane\u2019s character reunites with Jules (Hunter Schafer), whom he hooked up with in Season 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember me?\u201d Jules asks Cal, who replies, \u201cHow can I forget?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Dane (seen above in the \u201cEuphoria\u201d Season 3 trailer) said in an interview before his death that he loved returning to set after a four-year break. <span class=\"credit\">HBO Max<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Dane played Cal Jacobs in the hit HBO series. <span class=\"credit\">HBO Max<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Last June, Dane\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=imnQHdehw6w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told \u201cAccess Hollywood\u201d\u00a0<\/a>that it was \u201cgreat to be back\u201d on set after a four-year break between seasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can assure you that we are in production and we are shooting a really great TV show,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dane <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/04\/10\/celebrity-news\/greys-anatomy-alum-eric-dane-announces-als-diagnosis\/\">revealed his ALS diagnosis<\/a> in April 2025.
