{"id":49918,"date":"2026-04-13T22:56:38","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T22:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=49918"},"modified":"2026-04-13T22:56:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T22:56:38","slug":"wnba-players-blast-ioc-testing-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=49918","title":{"rendered":"WNBA Players Blast IOC Testing Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">WNBA star Brianna Turner is no fan of the International Olympic Committee\u2019s (IOC) recently announced testing policies aimed at keeping men out of women\u2019s sports, and she doesn\u2019t want her name being used to exclude \u201ctrans women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago Sky star co-wrote a piece in <em>USA Today Sports<\/em> along with Los Angeles Sparks player\u00a0Layshia Clarendon, in which the pair took issue with the IOC\u2019s stance against allowing transgender athletes to compete in the female category, saying in part, that \u201cthe final hurdle to represent your country should not be proving to a panel of strangers that you are the woman you say you are\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The pair wrote,\u00a0\u201cDo not use the names of women athletes to target, shame, or exclude transgender women. Transgender women are women. Women with intersex variations are women. I welcome these women \u2013 and all women \u2013 onto my teams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2043717905834283493\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/2043717905834283493\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The article continues, \u201cPolicies banning transgender athletes from participation by international sport governing bodies for\u00a0swimming\u00a0and\u00a0track and field,\u00a0the recent policy announcement by the\u00a0National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics\u00a0(NAIA) and a lawsuit against the NCAA are all byproducts of this mounting pressure, in which time and time again facts and inclusive values are drowned out by political pressure and blatant discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turner and Cameron argue that the IOC\u2019s previous framework of understanding, which allowed transgender athletes, was actually the correct view and consistent with science. While the \u201cnew mandate\u201d flies in the face of what the scientific data argues for.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">\u201cThis new mandate abandons that ground-breaking and collaborative framework, ignores established medical and human-rights guidance, and rejects the science that says physical appearance, chromosomes, or individual traits do not determine athletic performance or success,\u201d the article claims.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p>In addition to flying in the face of science, Clarendon and Turner also argue that the belief that men have an inherent athletic advantage over women contrasts with their many years of experience playing basketball against people of other genders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn more than 15 years of organised basketball, I\u2019ve played with and against people who are transgender and undoubtedly people with intersex variations, and I\u2019ve never experienced any unfair advantages. I saw these players as my fellow athletes, not my enemies. We cannot choose our genes or chromosomes, but we can choose how hard we work, how we treat one another, and whether we protect the dignity of every athlete,\u201d Clarendon and Turner claim.<\/p>\n<p>The WNBA stars then assert that the attention given to transgender athletes is misguided.
