Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) said Haitian TPS holders are vital to local communities and businesses and called for extending TPS for Haiti.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pressley <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/reppressley\/status\/2043707250213027945?s=46\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">posted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on X: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Haitian TPS holders are not abstract policy debates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They\u2019re our neighbors, restauranteurs, and community members who are like family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We must extend TPS for Haiti and protect the workers who make our communities feel like home.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/t\/assets\/html\/tweet-5.html#2043707250213027945\" data-btlnk=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepPressley\/status\/2043707250213027945\" class=\"bnn-if-tweet\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pressley also shared a video in which the speaker said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Haitian TPS holders are not abstract policy debates. They are cooks, dishwashers, servers, managers and owners. They\u2019re experienced reliable, legally authorized workers, and they\u2019ve become our family. Many are parents to us, citizen children. Many care for elders. Many have worked in the same restaurants for years, some for decades, paying taxes and doing everything right under the promise TPS made to them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If TPS is terminated, the damage will be immediate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This isn\u2019t just a labor issue. It\u2019s a supply chain issue that hits consumers, small businesses and local economies all at once. When those workers disappear, the food chain doesn\u2019t bend, it snaps. This is a humanitarian issue, and it\u2019s also an economic one. You cannot remove a vital workforce and expect small businesses or communities to survive the shock.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pressley\u2019s comments come as the Supreme Court <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2026\/03\/16\/scotus-to-decide-if-trump-can-end-temporary-amnesty-haiti-syria\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prepares<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to hear arguments in late April over whether the Trump administration can end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for about 350,000 Haitians and more than 6,000 Syrians after lower courts blocked the move.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A January <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">report<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the <em>New York Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/01\/29\/us\/trump-tps-haitians-health-care-job-losses.html\">said<\/a> at least 50,000 migrants with protected status work in health care, and that Haitians held about 111,000 health care jobs in the United States in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report highlighted Springfield, Ohio, where more than 10,000 Haitians have settled in recent years and where Haitian migrants work in hospitals, clinics, warehouses, and factories.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <em>New York Times<\/em> also reported that nursing homes and senior care centers in states with large Haitian populations, including Florida, New York, and Massachusetts, have warned that they could lose longtime workers if TPS is terminated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the State Department\u2019s 2024 Trafficking in Persons Report <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2024-election\/2024\/10\/09\/gangs-massacre-haitians-as-mayorkas-extracts-cops-doctors-teachers-for-bidenomics-jobs\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cited<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Breitbart News, about 3,000 Haitian police officers departed Haiti since 2022, with the majority anecdotally leaving through the U.S. government\u2019s visa processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, and the humanitarian parole program that included Haitians beginning in January 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Breitbart News also referenced a <em>Miami Herald<\/em> report stating that an estimated 30 percent of Haiti\u2019s teachers have migrated to the United States and elsewhere.
