{"id":50322,"date":"2026-04-14T09:10:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T09:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=50322"},"modified":"2026-04-14T09:10:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T09:10:00","slug":"country-star-ella-langley-says-very-scary-alabama-church-haunted-house-led-to-her-getting-saved-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=50322","title":{"rendered":"Country star Ella Langley says &#8216;very scary&#8217; Alabama church haunted house led to her getting &#8216;saved again&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft wp-block-nypost-editor-partner-article-links\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Ella Langley\u00a0is opening up about what it was like for her growing up in a small town as a Southern Baptist.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview on the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8jqyklYKjMU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This Past Weekend w\/ Theo Von<\/a>\u201d podcast, the 26-year-old country music star spoke about her upbringing in a small town in Alabama, recalling getting scared in the church\u2019s \u201cjudgment houses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s, like, they do it around Halloween,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s like a haunted house for Christians, I guess. Very scary. I remember our youth group took us. You get in there, and it\u2019s like this car crash scene, and it\u2019s pretty much like convincing you\u2026 that you could die the second you walk out of here, so you better settle up. You better get saved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She explained that the haunted houses \u201caffected me so bad\u201d that when they asked her youth group if anyone wanted to talk, she raised her hand and \u201cgot saved again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cExcuse the Mess\u201d singer recalled her dad telling her, \u201cWell, you are kind of a dumba\u2013, cuz that\u2019s the whole point of being saved.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Ella Langley performs on the Chevy Riverfront stage during day four of CMA Fest 2025 on June 8, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Langley explained that she was homeschooled for many years, and her life consisted of going to church, noting, \u201cPretty much all\u00a0we did was go to church.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She noted it was a \u201creally, really small church. It started in a barn. The house that I also grew up in, my dad grew up in, and there was an old barn across the street, and it started in hay bales on that barn, and then they moved it to a church, and I mean every Sunday and Wednesday until I was 18 years old.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She compared growing up in a small town to her experience with fame, explaining, \u201cYou\u2019ve known all these people your whole life,\u201d and growing up in that environment, \u201cI would hear s\u2014 about me all the time,\u201d adding, \u201cyou just get used to that.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Langley performs onstage during SiriusXM\u2019s The Music Row Happy Hour Live On The Highway from Margaritaville on June 10, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for SiriusXM<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Langley began her career on social media, gaining a following by posting covers on TikTok and Instagram, leading her to release her EP \u201cExcuse the Mess\u201d in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The EP helped solidify her fan base and included many of her early hits, including \u201cIf You Have To\u201d and \u201cCountry Boy\u2019s Dream Girl.\u201d She achieved mainstream success when she collaborated with Riley Green on her hit song \u201cYou Look Like You Love Me,\u201d which went viral on TikTok, got millions of streams on Spotify and Apple Music, and expanded her audience.<\/p>\n<p>Her debut studio album, \u201cHungover,\u201d was released in August 2024, and in April 2025, Langley was presented with the ACM New Female Artist of the Year award by country icon\u00a0Miranda Lambert, who has become a good friend to the budding star.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was singing constantly as a kid. Like I said, I\u2019ve known my whole life what I wanted to do, so I was always doing it,\u201d she told\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/grammy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grammy.com<\/a>\u00a0in August 2024, adding she became a stronger songwriter during COVID, saying, \u201call I did was write, write, write.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Langley and Macie Banks attend SiriusXM\u2019s The Music Row Happy Hour Live On The Highway from Margaritaville on June 10, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images for SiriusXM<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d singer told the outlet that storytelling is in her blood, noting, her \u201cdad\u2019s an incredible storyteller\u201d and so was her grandpa. \u201cStorytelling is what my family did,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>When speaking with Theo Von on the podcast, she credited her grandparents on her father\u2019s side for nurturing her love of music, saying her \u201cgrandpa could play anything by ear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was, like, the first girl in the family, and I started to match pitch with [my grandma] as a baby, and so she figured out I could sing, and singing was her thing, and my grandpa could, like I said, play any instrument by ear, and so at their house, that\u2019s all we did,\u201d she said<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI sang at church a lot.
