Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ son graduated from University of Michigan’s drama school in May 2025.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n

\u201cWhen your child says, \u2018I\u2019m gonna go to drama school,\u2019 you think to yourself, \u2018Oh my god, we have failed as parents,\u2019\u201d she quipped. \u201cAnd so to get any job was like inconceivable to us\u2026 and then he books a Broadway show<\/a>. It was just remarkable for us to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelly emphasized how meaningful the moment was by teasing her husband about the decades he’s worked in the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve been in this game a long time \u2014 30-plus years \u2014 and after all those years, you\u2019re finally doing a Broadway show,\u201d she said to her co-host. \u201cI was trying to explain it to him, like, \u2018Do you understand how remarkable it is?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not lost on me,\u201d Mark replied.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Joaquin Consuelos only gave his mom, Kelly Ripa, strict parameters for attending a party after opening night..<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n

While the proud parents were thrilled to celebrate Joaquin\u2019s big night, Kelly admitted her son made it clear she needed to keep things low-key at the after-party.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very funny because he gave us kind of like strict parameters,\u201d she explained, though Mark wasn’t on the same page.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid he? He didn\u2019t give me any parameters,\u201d the Riverdale<\/em> actor confessed.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gave me parameters,\u201d Kelly clarified with an eye roll. \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018You\u2019re going to the party?\u2019 I go, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 He\u2019s like, \u2018Why are you going?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kelly Ripa joked she ‘mostly’ left her son Joaquin alone at his after-party.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n

After explaining that attending the after-party is part of the opening night experience, Joaquin ultimately gave his mom simple instructions: “Alright, well when you get there\u2026 just be cool.”<\/p>\n

“And we were cool,” Mark insisted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were so cool!\u201d Kelly agreed, but noted she couldn\u2019t resist a quick mom moment. “We left him mostly alone. I mean, I did hug him and I was like, \u2018I\u2019m so proud of you, congratulations.\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018Alright, OK.\u2019”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, Kelly noticed other guests didn\u2019t face the same restrictions.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone else was allowed to hug him and tell him how proud they were all night,\u201d Kelly complained, though Mark assured her, \u201cThat\u2019s normal.\u201d<\/p>\n
