{"id":50706,"date":"2026-04-14T18:53:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T18:53:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=50706"},"modified":"2026-04-14T18:53:20","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T18:53:20","slug":"former-malaysian-pm-mahathir-mohamad-says-he-has-lost-control-of-his-leg-after-a-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foreignnewstoday.com\/?p=50706","title":{"rendered":"Former Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad says he has lost control of his leg after a fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>SINGAPORE: Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said he has lost control of his leg after a fall in January this year.<\/p>\n<p>Recounting the incident, the former prime minister said that after three months, he can now stand but likened it to having &#8220;no legs&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The fall that Dr Mahathir suffered on Jan 6 led to a hip fracture and a head injury, he said in a podcast snippet posted on his Instagram page on Tuesday (Apr 14).<\/p>\n<p>In that interview, he said that he was exercising when he lost control of his right leg, causing him to fall.<\/p>\n<p>He was then brought to the <span>National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He said the incident was &#8220;extremely painful&#8221;, and it took a few days for the pain to subside.<\/p>\n<p><span>At the time of his fall, which occurred at his residence, Mahathir\u2019s son Mukhriz said doctors had ruled out surgery due to his age and, therefore, his recovery would take longer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Mahathir celebrated his 100th birthday in July 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/asia\/former-malaysian-pm-mahathir-mohamad-lost-control-his-legs-fall-6056156\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SINGAPORE: Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said he has lost control of his leg after a fall in January this year.
